A spokesperson for the drink, sold by PepsiCo Inc., confirmed late Friday that it had ended its relationship with the golfer.

 

"We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship," a Gatorade spokeswoman said. "We wish him all the best."

 

The spokeswoman said Gatorade would continue its relationship with the Tiger Woods Foundation.

And just to be clear, for me, this really wasn't about Tiger Woods (even though he does have pretty teeth). This could've been about Roger Federer or Tom Brady. With the advent of the 24 hour news cycle, cell phones, blogs, gossip rags, twitter, the line between journalism and gossip has been blurred to where you can't even decipher between the two. You used to be able to pick the WSJ or the NY Times or even your local paper and assume for the most part what you were reading was factual news. You know why? Because those people were supposed to do their due diligence. Supposed to do their homework and check their sources before print. Same with the Network News Channels. That was journalism.

 

Now 'news' has turned into throwing crap at the wall until something sticks. Who cares if you get most of it wrong, as long as we dig up something...right? Slander no longer applies as long as you get just one little part of it right ya'll think it is validated. The juicier the better (even if you have to bribe your sources with money). What's important is no longer important. You gossip mongering fools thirst for not the facts, not if Tiger broke the law, not the truth that matters. Ya'lls thirst is for gossip about marital matters of somebody you've never met. It's sickening and sad. And a representation of the American public in 2009. We are over weight, rude, gossip mongering, selfish hypocrits. The whole lot.

I would not say he's back.......... but it truly is astonishing that he's gotten his game to this level - and so fast.
