redtodd 7 Posted October 4, 2012 I think it is pretty obvious Mitt won tonight. One way to tell, I all the liberals on my Facebook page are quiet. Â Three random observations: Â 1) Obama looked tired at the end. He did these slow blinks at one point that made me wonder, if he was going to doze off. In all fairness, Mitt has the advantage of being unemployed while debating....Obama needs to still be President. Â 2) How much plastic surgery has Jim the Moderator had? Really uncomfortable to watch. Â 3) Both candidates were impressive in their post debate conduct. Cool to see them BSing a little after with the families. I don't recall seeing that in the past. Â So the score is Romney 1-0. I would think Obama will come out stronger in Round 2.
sheadtoo 1 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm one of the really in the middle guys and after watching and listening Romney won the debate Obama didn't even really try it seemed. I feel like this was the "Republican" debate (the one they wanted topics ect.) To me at this point Romeny's public image is still hurting him. I said earlier he reminds me of Gordon Gekko and I have trouble getting past that. I think he'd run the country that way. I'm still

5-Points 3,566 Posted October 4, 2012 Do the conservative geeks feel like Romney pushed to the center in this debate? Â What did you like and dislike about what he said? I think it was just him explaining his positions first hand. You got to hear it from him so it seems reasonable. I was more surprised about how comfortable and confident he came across in his explanations. That hasn't been the norm.
jets24 6 Posted October 4, 2012 Even Carville is saying Ronney had s good night - said Romney looked like he wanted to be there and Obama did not. Â Carville better be careful with Thanksgiving coming up. When people see that neck of his, they may get him confused with a focking turkey. Yikes. It's like an eclipse. I can't stop looking at it. Gepetto 1,371 Posted October 4, 2012 Personally, I thought Obama came off as very reasonable, while Romney came off as a smug PR!ck. Â Â It was actually quite the opposite. Obama had a smirk on his face. Obama tried to be laid back but he came across as being uncomforable. He didn't answer any question he was asked. You're devotion to your messiah has twisted your mind. It's sad, really.
Brett M 0 Posted October 4, 2012 I feel like this was the "Republican" debate (the one they wanted topics ect.) I don't understand this sentiment at all. The topics discussed are easily won by Republicans because the economy is in disarray. Romney had the upper hand because of the damage that has been done over the past four years. But the moderator is the host of a PBS "news" program. A government program that Romney stated tonight he would cut.
cbfalcon 825 Posted October 4, 2012 I didn't watch, but have read a couple articles already. Â The consensus seems to be: Romney controlled the debate and got to say what he wanted to say. Obama made no major mistakes, but was mostly on the defensive all night. Â Sound about right? If so, that would obviously make Romney the winner tonight in round 1. I said earlier he reminds me of Gordon Gekko and I have trouble getting past that. I think he'd run the country that way. I'm still  If the real Romney is the guy we saw tonight, I'd heavily consider voting for him. I thought he came off very moderate. He seemed to mostly agree with Obama, on needing federal regulation of the banks and saying "wall street regulation is essential". He said he liked most of Dodd Frank and a lot of it "made all the sense in the world". That's all news to me, and in stark contrast to the message on his actual website. There he says he'll "tear down the vast edifice of regulations the Obama administration has imposed" and "Repeal Dodd-Frank and replace with streamlined, modern regulatory framework". The same regulations that weren't in place, that lead to the housing and market bust that followed. Like most things Romney, I find myself still wondering what he really believes. BunnysBastatrds 2,450 Posted October 4, 2012 Que the excuses from the Obama camp....... Â 1- He hasn't been able to spend the practicing time for debating like Romney has because he's presiding over the free world. 2- The moderator did a horrible job. 3- We told you not to expect to much from this debate. 4- He was tired from banging Michelle up to the debate and it weakend the legs. Should have listened to Mick's advice. Maybe should have eaten some raw eggs 5- Had to keep reminding himself not say "pacifics" instead of "specefics". Â This was a route on Romneys part and I can't believe I'm saying this. Romney took control from the start and Obama was on the defensive for most of the night. Looked like he was above being there and Romney took advantage. Â I expect most Obama supporters by lunch tomorrow will be pissed that Obama didn't hit more "softballs out of the park" that Romney gave him. When you hear that from his own supporters, you'll know who won the debate from their perspective even though they will say Obama won big. Watching the body langauge from the pundits says it all. Â Romney-1 Obama-

True. He did govern Masshole very moderately. Even borderline liberally...  I'd like to know more about his proposed tax cuts for the mc and what tax loopholes he intends to close. Sort of weird that he wants to close tax loopholes, when he won't release his returns, because we'll see he's using those very same tax loopholes.  I'm also curious about how he wants to reform the education system, as that's something very near and dear to me.

I don't know of as sharp a critic of Romney's demeanor than myself, except for maybe Voltaire, and he gained major respect points there tonight for me.  I'm wondering if his more natural element is duking it out with direct challengers, rather than getting into things on his own sidelines/preaching to the choir.  It seemed like his Achilles heel was going to be pushing Jim Lehrer's patience as far as it could go.  The moment when he said "poor kids" and then immediately looked crestfallen, and corrected himself with "low income" was wince worthy, for his sake. He should have left it at poor (not a big deal), but I understand why fear washed over him there.
