I'd take Eli and Ben off this list. Cam belongs in there. I'd argue Stafford despite the poor year should be in as well. Romo, despite his failures, is a top 10 qb, mainly because the Cowboys are always playing from behind.

 

As Cris Collinsworth said tonight, when Romo's career is done, he's either going to be a Super Bowl winner or a "Yeah, but...". (Can't this be said of ANY QB?) His inability to win the big games - most notably the "win and you're in" ones - is going to follow him around until he ever does win a Super Bowl. Sort of like the way it was with Elway.

 

I can't take Eli off of that list and put Stafford in there. Stafford, or as I've heard him called, "Stat Paddington", has never come up big in any spot. He only really puts up big numbers because they're throwing 50 times a game. Eli played his best when the spotlight was on, so I'll leave him on. I could live with putting Cam in over Ben.

Eli has played pretty well when it matters. I just used the two as a comparison; because most view them as being in totally different leagues. I don't find Eli to be very elite. He is a very good QB that has been put in a much better situation which was the basis for my argument. Eli didn't win them their first Super Bowl; their Def did and without that insane catch he'd only have one Superbowl under his belt. Some of the best Qb's of all time have won Super Bowls while some shatty QB's have. Had the Giants not won two Super Bowls no one would even think of mentioning Eli has being an ELITE player; which he isn't.

 

With that being said; Romo played like garbage last night. Other points to consider: just about every WR was went out of the game with an injury last night for Dallas, D Ware couldn't contain the edge at all. The skins gashed them on the ground last night and RG3 did vey little though the air. It was an all around choke job last night by just about everyone on the Cowboys team.

 

QB's bare the burden of winning or losing in the NFL. Romo is a top 10 QB and despite his bad games the Cowboys aren't going to find anything better. They let go of Romo and there will be 15+ teams looking to sign him immediately.

If you just look at stats and take them out of context then it's simple to say that Romo's TD to INT is better than Eli's, therefore his stats are better. Where's the stat for interception to TD ratio in a win or go home game? How about the number of games that Eli was able to play in because he was good enough to win the previous game? Where's the stat for that?

So if we just throw away Super Bowls from say....Brady, Aikman Elway, and just about everyone else, we will find their career was just average. Is that what you are getting at here? Are you going to also claim that the pats first Super Bowl was a fluke because of the incredibly stupid tuck rule? What about Norwoods missed FG..... If only..... The Bills would have been champs. So, in summary, if we just take away certain plays or change history then certain players aren't that good and the teams tha lost actually won. I got it now.

 

Room has proven he's capable of racking up stats with jump balls to Dez Bryant and that's awesome for fantasy football. But let's not try to make it so he's on the same plane as Eli. Can we just not do that? Thanks.

Dan Marino at least went to a super bowl and an afc championship. Went to the playoffs TEN times, playing in 18 playoff games. Romo has been to the playoffs thrice, playing in 4 playoff games

Romo was bad, really bad. Yet as bad as he was he still put the boys in a position to win. No excuse though for the picks - just terrible. As a whole the boys were just out matched. Too many guys playing who weren't even on NFL rosters at the start of the season, and it really showed on defense. You give up 200 plus yards rushing and 3 tds to one guy, going to be hard to win in any scenario..... Romo has to be better, but he's far from the only problems this team has.

I noticed that Romo does put up big numbers but the Cowboys got so far behind in games and Romo played against soft, almost 'prevent defenses' for most of the game's 2nd halves.
