Thanks to Eldleman, Brown and DJax - I'm rolling with Graham to the promise land. Glad the Saints lost - now they "must" win the game in Carolina to secure the division and a bye - they'll be more motivated and Graham will perform better than today.

 

Even if he goes scoreless - there's no way i wouldn't have drafted him if I had to do it over.

 

Yeah...he, Lacy, and Calvin pretty much locked up my #1 seed for me and made up for drafting Richardson instead of Lynch (that one still stings)

That said, does the emergence of some of these young TE's along with Gronk and Pitta being healthy and other solid guys like V Davis decrease the value of owning a Jimmy Graham this year??

 

I've had excellent luck taking him in the 2nd round the last 2 years. I a bit apprehensive about it this year, though, because there finally seems to be more productive options at TE this year then years past.

The emergence of some young tes means after the first few you might as well wait on getting one. Graham still has a monsterous statistical advantage, possible even more so than last year. SO no, grahams value does not go down.

 

Its my opinion his value increases this year. He had a nagging ankle injury and a tougher sched last year. A full year of health, an easier sched, and an upgraded offense that takes even more pressure off of graham should equate to one hell of a year and a huge advantage.

I def agree Graham is a tremendous pick and gives a great advantage at TE. I personally never draft him just cuz I cant stomach a first or second rnd pick for a te since I know I will hate my rbs later. I really prefer getting witten or pitta later after the dust settles on my rbs and wrs. Then its just a value game of getting the last qb (wich is a stud like romo or ryan) or the last decent te that is involved in their offense like Witten.

 

I believe a good strat with JG is to go all in on non rbs and then platoon a slew of bums hoping to hit gold with sleepers. An example would be to try and get Graham plus a top 5 wr and top 3 qb in the first 3 rnds to give yourself a top tier guy at all 3 non rb positions. Then just get as many value rbs as you...Eh screw all that, just take rbs early and stop fooling yourself, the Graham owner never has a good season, its fackin fools gold! Graham has a nice big contract now. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to playing with various hurts with the money banked. I have taken him in the 2nd round before with success. I would agree with those posters that say you've got to come out of the 1st 2 rounds with at least one running back.

Graham fell to me last year in the 3rd round.

Its still early in the Mock Season, but this is where I think I'm heading.

Last year I got lucky picking Charles at 1.3, and watched pretty much every other 1st round RB tank.

I'll take Graham with confidence in the first, get the top WRs i need in ppr, Brees or Rogers, and scratch it out with scrubby RBs for 16 games.

It's all random, but I think taking Graham early isn't a bad option at all. He's pretty darn consistent. And he's pretty much matchup proof on top of that. That is why I like non-RB early on, early picks I want to be matchup proof because it's not like I can bench them and stick in somebody else. RBs I prefer taking late and then just playing the matchups. A mediocre RB playing against an awful run D usually performs better than a very good RB against a mediocre run D. There are maybe 3 RBs in the league that are matchup proof, so if you can guess which 3 they are, and then pick high enough, they are still worth the pick probably. But after that, the RBs really are not worth their draft slot in the first few rounds.

 

The non-RB positions put up similar stats weekly. If they're good they're just good. Defenses will make some impact but usually they can still do something.

 

Also if you take Graham, you can ignore the backup TE position and just grab someone when the bye week comes along. That extra slot can now go to another RB to rotate, especially early in the season.

Just got finished listening to the local sports show here in Who Dat Nation. They are saying he looks better in this years camp than ever. The WR core is deeper than it's ever been and he will benefit from it more than anyone. Cook and Toon are opening up spaces that Graham will exploit while giving Colston and Stills the blocks. Graham is redefining the TE position.

In a 12 team league it's dam near impossible to get the #1 TE graham, a top 5 wr, and one of the top 3 QBs in the first three rounds. I have yet to see Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, fall into the third round. Likewise, Dez, Marshall, Calvin, Green, and Thomas never make it to the third round either. So if you truly want to not draft a RB in the first two rounds then you best pick one up in the third. Reggie Bush, Ryan Mathews, CJ Spiller are usually all available then. You could get lucky and one of those hits this year but for my money I'd rather take a RB in the first round or at least the second round

Picking 7th. I'm pretty sure that the top 5 rbs and Calvin will be gone. The next tier of rb aren't that great, and one of the top wr's should be available at 2.4. So I might lean towards taking Graham in the 1st, grab a wr in the 2nd and volume pick a bunch of rb 3,4,5.

He's had great production up until recently and any good owner would have him backed up with a high upside T.E. Yeah it sucks to have a top pick go down but at least it's not a McCoy/A.P./Ball let down of epic proportions.
