Sho Nuff 720 Posted March 8, 2016 Does anyone remember that our system of government makes it virtually impossible for a fascist dictator to take over the country? The Hitler comparisons are designed to rile up the already foaming at the mouth liberals. It's exacly the same thing Trump is doing for the other side with his "build a wall" nonsense. You realize there are more ways to fock the country than just being a fascist dictator right? THe guy understands part of business...but not really great on the economy. He sucks as far as foreign policy and could set back foreign relations terribly. For as much as righties complain that Obama gets "rolled" internationally...Trump would fock us in that respect because he will not be able to bully everyone. TimmySmith 2,782 Posted March 8, 2016 It's true. It's all true. I could give two shiits about the 'establishment' and would be all about challenging the status quo. Hell I'd be for it and WAS for it with Ron and Rand Paul. That's challenging the status quo with ideas. I was for the original Tea Party when it was being led by Libertarians. But it was hijacked by the Sarah Palins and Donald Trumps of the world and that I cannot stomach. The anti-Establishment has been perverted and bastardized to the lowest degree. And everything MDC just said is focking true. As much as it pains me to say it. Perhaps. The good thing is everyone will forget about what a fraud he is once he's President. Happens every time. MDC 7,478 Posted March 8, 2016 That is why I think the whole anti-establishment thing is a bs excuse for many. These people were not supporting Paul who really was anti-establishment but actually had good ideas that were still conservative. Paul didn't pander to the bigotries of the mouth breather wing. They don't want smaller government: they want a candidate who will insult women, Mexicans and Muslims and brag about his schlong size. This primary is a circus and Trump is PT Barnum. MDC 7,478 Posted March 8, 2016 I have no idea, but I would like to know/understand. I think there's some truth to Trump's claim that he's growing the Republican voter rolls. I bet he's doing extremely well among recently registered and first time voters. He's probably doing a lot better among Independents and Democrats in the primary too. Whether these people would actually vote for him in a general or if they're just playing games now is a mystery. The man's entertainment factor can't be denied. Mike Honcho 5,294 Posted March 8, 2016 Awesome timing: President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto "And there have been episodes in human history, unfortunately, where these expressions of this strident rhetoric have only led to very ominous situations in the history of humanity. That's how Mussolini got in, that's how Hitler got in, they took advantage of a situation, a problem perhaps, which humanity was going through at the time, after an economic crisis. And I think what (they) put forward ended up at what we know today from history, in global conflagration. We don't want that happening anywhere in the world." Hardcore troubadour 15,491 Posted March 8, 2016 The specter of the Supreme Court nominee will play huge in this election. If Obama doesnt get one in, then the GOP will be able to point to a liberal court if Hillary gets elected. It may be their best card to play. And many people who cant see themselves voting for Trump may reluctantly do so when that is pointed out to them. I should say when they are beaten over the head with it. Voltaire 5,317 Posted March 9, 2016 So who are these delegates? Who chooses them? The candidates or the state party? I understand how they're pledged to Trump, Cruz, Rubio, or Kasich on the first ballot, but once the unpleasantness of the first ballot is cast and Trump comes up five votes short, are the state official elites making up the delegates and going to get together with their collegues from the other 49 states to decide if they want Jeb! or Romney or are these going to be Trump/Cruz/Rubio enthusiasts hashing it out? So it's an important question.

But stop it. This is a game of chicken and it's time to swerve. For sanitys sake. I understand. I have a nice niche here and Trump may well fock it up by starting a trade war here and anywhere else I want to teach too. Meanwhile, I worry endlessly about how I'll pay for my kids' college and there's a candidate in Bernie who's nice enough to take that concern off my shoulders by having all my friends at the Geek Club pay for it instead. So if it were about me, that's how I'd do it. Gimme Bernie and my free stuff that somebody else will pay for. It's not about what's best for me though. It's about what's best for the country. What's the alternative? Bloomberg is now out. Scratch Rubio thankfully, as he's the worst by far; he looks to soon be gone as well. So the alternative is Hillary, Sanders, or Cruz. Now I'm still hoping for a Kasich miracle and he's got some momentum but Trump is #2 because of the other four, Trump is the only one who may not totally suck. I like Sanders for his honesty and integrity and (2016) foreign policy but fock if I'm going to ask working people to pay 50-70% of their income in taxes. Hillary likes free stuff too, though not nearly as much. She's also incredibly shady and is more than happy to invade everywhere playing international policewoman. And then both of them happily kiss BLM ass, although Hillary does so with much more practice and enthusiasm. Cruz has a decent sounding foreign policy and his commitment to balancing the budget is not in doubt. So there's upside with him on my top two issues. But pretty much everything else with him is a nightmare. The worst of the lot -Rubio- is a marionette turd throwback to the Bushtarded years with subzero upside and the one candidate I will under no circumstances vote for. The dude is the same age as me, I'm hoping his losing Florida to Trump, together with his resigning from the Senate makes for a career ender so I never have to hear his "up and coming" name again for the rest of my life. I still list him because I hate him, but thanks to Michigan and Mississippi, he looks done as of a few hours ago. Trump... Trump sucks too. Trump University looks and sounds like a scam and his slowness in denouncing David Duke is troubling. The word 'racist' gets tossed around so much that it's lost meaning any more but Trump flirts with it. Meanwhile, he a pompous, arrogant egomaniac who doesn't know what he's doing and looks to be making it all up as he goes. He supports torture and is the prime birthertard. What he has is potential upside and none of these others do. It all comes back to Cruz, Hillary, Sanders as the alternative. Kasich is #1 by far. Trump is -legitimatly- the least bad of this quartet so he's #2. And all of this doesn't matter though. Hillary will mop the floor with him and so all this worry goes away. She just won't do it with my help. The Hispanics will all come out of the woodworks and the establishment GOP will either join them or sit on their hands to help Hillary get rid of Trump. There aren't enough white trash that have been voting Dem for president (like myself) to go the other way and overcome that. If it were about what's best for me, it'd be Bernie. I don't vote that way.
