What do you pack when your house is focked

Recommended Posts

Does insurance cover everything? If so, I'd just take the family pictures, kids' artwork and important documents. Maybe take pics of everything else in case that's helpful for insurance reimbursement...Dunno

3pm is when they are releasing the water. Although I do not know where I am going, i am trying to find a route out of houston but it looks like we are focked there too.

Do you really need/want me to tell you what you should take? Ok fine. Make sure you grab your phone charger.

Would this be a bad time to mention I told you not to leave Montanny?

Of course the whole state is on fire here, so pick your poison I guess.

Also, pictures and guns and best of luck. Sorry this is happening to you.

Good luck! I have a coworker in sugar land that tried to evacuate this morning. Could not find a way out so went back home and started moving stuff to the second floor.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet. Prescription drugs and contacts or glasses. You can get food and water. That s*** you have no chance at in the near-term.

A friend of mine posted a pretty cool picture. This family pitched a couple family-size tents on top of the roof. Drove the steaks right through the roof. That's where they're waiting out the storm. water is already about three-quarters of the way up the front door.

Bring q-tips, a ball of string and a paper clip.

MacGyver has survived with less.

Make sure to bring at least one with you. People are getting desperate, you never know.

Dam if HEB ain't leading the dam disaster relief. Lol loved that grocery store when I was there. Seriously, it was the only one around and within a two mile radius of my house I had 4 different ones to choose from...

I read where water was going for $30+ per case in certain areas.

Echoing the good luck and stay safe as well.

I'd echo important documents, photos and family heirlooms and jewelry.

I'd also bring credit cards, cash, lots of tap or bottled water, non persishable food items, a tent, sleeping bags, phones and chargers and whatever first aid stuff you have on hand.

Good luck Bum. This is why you leave the wheels on and don't throw them up on the roof.

Phone charger for communication. Physical documents of importance (ie: wills/SS card/etc). Pictures, though in this day and age many/most pictures are all digital. Most important thing to bring is just the people/pets. Most items can be replaced.

Best of luck

Made it to the co-workers house, but they are out shopping. I put as much in the attic as possible. All of the electronics, clothes, power tools, etc.

We brought our laptops, documents, some food and water, and baby supplies with us. I have a 3 month old and 2 year old.

There is a dam upstream of our house that is going to break, they are releasing all of that water at 3 pm.

It is forecasted to fill our house with 4 feet of water.

We do not have flood insurance, we cancelled it after we got 18 inches of rain and the water was not close.

I guess whatever can move upstairs... moves upstairs.

At least you do have a timestamp for when the dam water will release so you can plan around it,

We left. We had to get across town and water is coming down like crazy. We had to weigh packing more stuff verse being stuck and completely screwed.

That's what focked Nashville a few years ago.

Rained like hell for days- looked like we would make it- until the Corp of Engineers opened all the flood gates on the damns- then it was all over.

Never made any sense why they weren't releasing water all along, rather than waiting and creating the tidal wave that engulfed the city.

Anyway- good luck. Take care of the family

We had that major earthquake in Chengdu in 2007 and in the next couple of weeks we'd had so many aftershocks, like thousands, I'd said at the time that the ground was rocking so much that it was like being on a boat except I was sitting in my living room.

And you're kind of like that, not that the effect that ground is rocking but in that you can sit on your dining room table and go fishing.
