Fears of a second civil war grow among democrat & republican pundits

Recommended Posts

With impeachment looming tomorrow, there is a decent chance we get some form of protests or civil unrest from the popular movement on the right.  Trump is clearly signalling he wants to fight this and that the House is a bunch of crooks attempting a coup.  More certain is that an impeachment will push people on the right into militia groups to be further radicalized.

Currently we are seeing protests forming in support of impeachment that are being countered by protests against impeachment in several cities.  Any one of these can easily turn violent.

I think odds are:

protests and marches for both sides: 100%

militia groups swelling with new members: 75%

small skirmishes between both sets of protestors:  55%

civil unrest in several cities: 25%

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/93-virginia-jurisdictions-are-now-declared-second-amendment-sanctuaries/

And the Governor of Virginia has the stones to say he would be willing to use the National Guard on American citizens to disarm.  Wooooooww...  Now that... Would stir up Sons of Liberty like nothing else... If of course any National Guard would even lift a finger since it's their brother, sons, father's etc armed.

The Posse Comitatus Act (1878)prohibited use of the U.S. Army to aid civil officials in enforcing the law or suppressing civil disorder unless expressly ordered to do so by the president. Southern Democratic members of the House who resented widespread use of federal troops during Reconstruction introduced the law.

Yeah I realize it's a State National Guard but good luck with that.

He can try, but the President can overrule him....

Someone has to stand up for our civil rights....

I wanted to repost from the article I posted in the OP of this thread, from March 2019:

Around the same time Hanson was writing, Robert Reich, a former secretary of labor who is now a professor at the University of California at Berkeley, imagined his own new American civil war, in which demands for Trump’s impeachment lead to calls from Fox News commentators for “every honest patriot to take to the streets.”

I still have in mind the start of the French Revolution, where the people get swallowed whole by endless rage and there are protests and violence all over the place.  Attempts to stem the tide fail as the political class is completely disconnected from reality.

I've been seeing where at least 1 sheriff has said he would deputize thousands of  citizens in his county to counter any unconstitutional law the state might pass.

Sheriff

Also, to riversco's point, their has been an increase in militia membership in Virginia as a result of these laws. I'll try to find the article to link.

ETA: I can't find the article I read but this one covers a different aspect of the situation.

If the libtards kept their freakshow in the cities no one would care what they do. But that's not good enough for them anymore.

Regardless of political affiliation, the vast majority of people in this country have it far too good to ever consider civil war.

It’s just not gonna happen in our lifetimes.

I agree with you.

But a cousin of mine just posted a multi-paragraph diatribe on facebook, letting his 954 friends know that if his president is impeached "we will not be silent. You will see a revolution that you cannot even fathom. Tread lightly."

My guess is the revolution will mostly involve more facebook posts, but I suppose Riversco could be correct and I may have to kill my cousin on the battlefield.

All those goofballs can head over to Wyoming and battle it out in the open fields then.  Leave the rest of us alone to enjoy our lives.

Careful.  Its not MY opinion.  Its coming from sourced opinions from respected colleges, universities, and experts in the field that I have listed in this thread.  Pay attention to the title thread.  I even respoted a quote from Robert Reich outlining the very scenario of unrest following Trump's impeachment.  You trivialize the danger by ignoring the sources and just making it sound like "its my opinion".

I don't believe anyone ever thought you were the first person to think up the concept of a civil war occurring.......But if you believe these other people's opinions are correct, then it is also your opinion.....Otherwise, you'd seemingly be implying that an opinion can only be held by one person....or something.

What would a civil war look like?  What percentage of the population would have to be involved for it to qualify as a civil war?  Where would the fighting take place?  What would it be like for the rest of the population, business as usual?  Would work and school still happen?  Would the fighting be nonstop or would it people return to their homes at night?

This is another reason why it won't be happening anytime soon.  Neither side would be able to agree on the logistics.

And who gets McDonald's and Starbucks?

Somebody would have to create a Facebook Event. Something like "The Battle of Topeka: When: Saturday at 2pm. Where? Kanza Fire Commerce Park. Notes: Don't forget to wear your Red or Blue, as we wouldn't want anyone to perish via friendly fire. The victorious team advances west to the Battle of Salina, to be held the following Saturday at 2pm. Thank you all, and lets remember to honor the rules established in Geneva, as we are all still Americans after all. Good luck everybody!"

I feel like the comments would get a bit out of hand though. The FB mods would have their hands full.

Civil war isn't going to happen, even though CNN is calling for it, and Antifa is making threats to bring the right to their knees.

So my question is, IF it did happen, uhhhh....what are the liberals plans?  Like what is their game plan?  Throw rocks?  Gasoline fire bombs? Fingernails and scratching and slapping?

I know what the answer will be...or at least I think.  I want to see some answers first.

Lib plans are probably 90% similar to the other side's plans. HTH

That is the same thing I say about those on the south side of Chicago. I'll keep my distance while you all shoot each other day and night. Have at it. San Francisco? Go ahead, shlt all over the place. I'm not going there.

I don't know man... I think it would be uber fringe at first.  Here in the PDX area a buddy and I were watching Antifa and Patriot Prayer square off a few months back.  I think it would have to be something like that at the beginning... Then sh!t would get out of hand with those two groups... The gov would step in.  One group or another would get gov stomped which would then escalate to the rest of that group calling to arms.  Escalation... Soon enough the inner cities would be Hong Kong...

Hong Kong is an interesting example of how an ultra modern society can love them some chaos and anarchy.

I've seen a few where they want to bring the un in. They also think the military will be on their side. They also talk about blockading middle America... You know where all their food comes from.

I think it's closer to 30% than 90%.  The party is really making a push towards socialism.  I think it's safe to say that almost all of the remaining Democrat nominees running for President are more socialist than general Democrat.

Imagine believing that socialism/communism is the most pressing threat to our civilization.  That’s the real “ok boomer” moment here.

THAT is the answer I was looking for-------> Call in someone, anyone in to help.   Liberals aren't self sufficient.  If they get snowed on, they wait for help. If the get flooded, they wait for help.   Conservatives grab the focking bull by the horns and start helping themselves. They aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and their clothes ripped.

I would say it is near the top.   The left is using Socialism as a stepping stone/smoke screen. Eventually it becomes Communism or a form of it.

This is just plain stupid.

Nobody’s going to war over puzzy grabbing, puzzy hats, peach mints, and Trump tweets.

There’s not enough like-minded people on the far left or far right that would put their lives on the line for any of this nonsense.

A crisis has to be severe and imminent danger inevitable for half the country to secede and declare war on the other half.

We just aren’t anywhere near that.

I can’t participate in full on combat.  But I would lend support and participate in acts of vandalism and subterfuge.

If there was a formal announcement of civil war, as long as I agreed with what the right was fighting for, I would leave my cushy office job and sign up.
