The Country Is Doing Good

Recommended Posts

Right? Any major complaints at this time? No new wars, economy humming along. What else is there? Everyone seems to be getting a piece of the action. Sure there are problems, but overall this feels like a pretty good period we are in right now. Thoughts?

The ag economy is struggling.  Farmers are having a tough time.  Manufacturing is struggling.  Wages are not increasing with the cost of living.  The housing market seems pretty flat around here.

Nothing incredibly drastic but it's not as great as some make it seem to be.  It's certainly not doing bad though.  I would say things are good.

In my area:

- Business is booming.  Wages continue to go up and it's hard to find qualified people.  When we find them, we're paying up.

- Manufacturers are still spending significant money on capital improvements

- Housing market is excellent

Yes, things are going very well.  We may have to consider selling our house because of the market and demand.  Received a promotion with a hefty salary increase 2 months ago, nothing to complain about.

Manufacturing is killing it in my area, Toyota has people near us living a very high quality of life.  Wages are more than keeping up with cost of living.  The housing market is a bit out of control but, it's because of the growth in my area.

The Trump base believes there is rising racism against whites masked as equality and fairness.  Quotas all over the place.  They feel that unless this is brought to an end, their children will have less opportunities in life than they did.  And they are ready to fight to fix it.  The nation is a powderkeg today. Its awaiting the spark.

But otherwise pretty good, right? And I agree about the anti-white racism. Enough.

Otherwise?  Plenty of natural resources in the US.  Education is very good compared to the rest of the world.  Our level of national debt is still OK in my book.  We're at risk of a major outbreak of some viruses and diseases that are almost immune to all of our medicine that could devastate the population and our birth rates have collapsed which is a pretty nasty 1-2 punch that might severely drop the population.   Not to mention measles is on the rise thanks to anti-vaxxers.  Of course it might not happen for 50 years but its coming.

As the economic prosperity continues it will reach the have's more quickly and prominently, this gives the leftists some temporary armament to exploit the have nots for a little while....

Eventually the economic progress will reach less affluent folks, but it is also likely that many of them will continue to struggle to a certain extent.  The poor in this nation tend to be poor because they suck with finances, so even though prosperity is there for the taking....they are not equipped to exploit the opportunity to its fullest extent.

All in all, yes.  Things are good. But they could always be better.

This is what kills me about our current political system.  We're in good shape and should be concentrating on solutions to the real problems like  gun violence, the Opioid crisis, inner city crime, education, illegal immigration and homelessness.

Instead, we run around playing political grab-ass and real progress is stymied.

I am not aware of any specific government policies behind this one; with the previous iteration where the government built a predatory model that harmed mostly minorities not being relevant here.

This is to be expected as the supply of buyers increases due to improving financial conditions, the response to this on the part of builders and sellers will bring a delayed counter balance over time.

How many did your ancestors own?  Seems like a great way to have inherited wealth.

Things are about as good as they’ve been for the last decade. My biggest concerns are stagnant wages and the rising cost of HC, but those have been concerns for years.

I just solved one of your concerns.

I agree, HC is a racket and needs reeled in somehow.

Quote from that article:

'Minorities already face challenges in the workplace, so it seems logical that would increase the level of mental heath symptoms and then to get out of environments that aren't really serving them,' Greenwood said.

Why why why? Why do millennials face "challenges in the workplace"  What the ever loving fock.  God I hate them all

Ranch homes are common in the Atlanta metro area. They were built like crazy for post war families. They are found in both white and black areas (as Atlanta was previously and I'd argue, still segregated). Homes in the white areas look exactly like homes in the black areas but are twice as expensive and not necessarily better maintained. But the black areas are the suck and the white areas are near my job and the neighborhoods are far better: Kroger, Publix, Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joes, Walmart, etc.

Due to gentrification the black homes can purchased for nothing if you have the money to renovate them. I do not.

So, I have to buy black renovated homes, which are small and still crappy area of living or buy an expensive home in the white area (which is where I am renting now).

So the government is actively separating black people from white people in Atlanta?

My parents have lived in a well to do neighborhood in the Chicago burbs for the past 36 years. they have a Peruvian family as a neighbor on their right, and a black family on the left. The Peruvian family has been close to our family for many years. The black family is cordial, but they stick to themselves. Whenever I see them have get togethers, never once have I ever seen a white person amongst them. Or any other race for that matter.
