There are a ton of old focks down in South Florida with money up the ass. If they keep paying their servants to do stuff for them, eventually they will all contract this and be dead.

Cheap real estate as lots of high priced homes become vacant.

Not sure, I just know it's a stereotype that Asians/Chinese are very OCD about the cleanliness of their homes, it's common for them to use cleaning services, never wear shoes inside, stuff like that.

I don't understand why people always say the Chinese have very low hygiene but at the same time are known for never wearing shoes in their house, using maid services and being clean/neat freaks when it comes to the cleanliness of their home.

You've obviously never been to China.  Those are some dirty bastards.

Trump stated that a best case scenario would be a return to normal life between July or August. I think that is realistic as a best case scenario, it is consistent with the studies, which means he is listening to his staff.

He also admitted that we are probably heading towards a recession.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-coronavirus-guidelines-15-days-crisis-summer-recession

quote:

At another point during the news conference, asked if the U.S. was headed into a recession, Trump replied: “Well, it may be.” But then, he said, “We're not thinking in terms of recession, we're thinking in terms of the virus.”

"Six Bay Area counties have announced new restrictions on movement, just short of a full lockdown, in an effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda counties announced mandatory “shelter in place” orders for all residents beginning Tuesday for the next three weeks. All nonessential businesses will be closed and nonessential travel prohibited. Residents would be permitted to leave home only to buy food or other necessary supplies, to seek medical care or to provide care to others. Elective medical procedures and routine appointments will be canceled."

Everything we are being asked to do is based on normal people. There are many not normals in our country. This stuff isnt going to work so well in the trailer park or ghetto. These people need the school to feed their kids during the best of times. The pathetics are going to be a problem. Racism claims are coming.

That's a glass half empty way of looking at things.

The way I see it, there will probably be some positions opening up in the near future.

From ZeroHedge:

50% of Americans will contract the virus (150m people) as it's very communicable. This is on a par with the common cold (Rhinovirus) of which there are about 200 strains and which the majority of Americans will get 2-4 per year.

70% of Germany will contract it (58M people). This is the next most relevant industrial economy to be affected.

Peak-virus is expected over the next eight weeks, declining thereafter.

The virus appears to be concentrated in a band between 30-50 degrees north latitude, meaning that like the common cold and flu, it prefers cold weather. The coming summer in the northern hemisphere should help. This is to say that the virus is likely seasonal.

Of those impacted 80% will be early-stage, 15% mid-stage and 5% critical-stage. Early-stage symptoms are like the common cold and mid-stage symptoms are like the flu; these are stay at home for two weeks and rest. 5% will be critical and highly weighted towards the elderly.

Mortality rate on average of up to 2%, heavily weighted towards the elderly and immunocompromised; meaning up to 3m people (150m*.02). In the US about 3m/yr die mostly due to old age and disease, those two being highly correlated (as a percent very few from accidents). There will be significant overlap, so this does not mean 3m new deaths from the virus, it means elderly people dying sooner due to respiratory issues. This may, however, stress the healthcare system.

There is a debate as to how to address the virus pre-vaccine. The US is tending towards quarantine. The UK is tending towards allowing it to spread so that the population can develop natural immunity. Quarantine is likely to be ineffective and result in significant economic damage but will slow the rate of transmission giving the healthcare system more time to deal with the caseload.

China’s economy has been largely impacted which has affected raw materials and the global supply chain. It may take up to six months for it to recover.

Global GDP growth rate will be the lowest in 30 years at around 2%.

S&P 500 will see a negative growth rate of -15% to -20% for 2020 overall.

There will be economic damage from the virus itself, but the real damage is driven mostly by market psychology. Viruses have been with us forever. Stock markets should fully recover in the 2nd half of the year.

In the past week, there has been a conflating of the impact of the virus on the developing oil price war between KSA and Russia. While reduced energy prices are generally good for industrial economies, the US is now a large energy exporter, so there has been a negative impact on the valuation of the domestic energy sector. This will continue for some time as the Russians are attempting to economically squeeze the American shale producers and the Saudi’s are caught in the middle and do not want to further cede market share to Russia or the US.

Technically the market generally has been looking for a reason to reset after the longest bull market in history.

There is NO systemic risk. No one is even talking about that. Governments are intervening in the markets to stabilize them, and the private banking sector is very well-capitalized. It feels more like ‪9/11 than it does like 2008.

I agreed with everything but this. It doesn't feel like either. This is something unique and will stand in its own.

I do agree that when we make it out of this the country is still strong and recovery will be quick.

I think the whole thing blows over in 4 months one way or the other.

We talk about flattening the curve to help keep us under capacity.  Well in 4 months we should be able to up our hospital capacity as well such that the combination of semi-flattened response and increased capacity will allow us to return to normalcy.

My school has a restroom. The stalls all have toilet paper in them and I have a sink with liquid soap. That's provided free and that's because I run it and I have standards. Most private schools don't even have a restroom. And the government schools have horrible nasty conditions, no TP and no soap.

Most restaurants, including nice ones, are the same way. They don't have a place to wash hands. You can rinse them, there's no soap. There's also no TP.

In China, you have to bring your own TP and there's no soap anywhere... except Walmart and KFC and my school. And airports. The last time you'll see a quality public restroom in China is at the airport.

Supposedly that is fake news being spread by Russia, at least that is what Trump implied at his press conference.

The below article may very well turn out to be false when it is all said and done. However it is said by a nations health minister, so I will post it.

It pretty much says you should only take Tylenol for Coronavirus and the others over the counter fever reducer/painkillers should be avoided.
