What is the hardest word in the English language to remember how to spell?

Recommended Posts

The proper spelling of c u n t to get around censors.  ###### seems like it gets blocked sometimes.

Edit:  see?  I tried c v n t but it gets stymied!!!

That list is increasing as I get older.  Back in college days, I could spell anything.  Now, I struggle far more than I used to.

I think that's a product of spell check and the internet. You stop trying at some point. It's similar to driving directions before and after GPS.

League and amateur were difficult for a while. And then there are the lying focking teachers with their “ i before  e except after c” BS. It’s just not true. A-holes.

I had a prescription to some meds several years back that I did not need to take so I sold them to one of the brothas I bought real drugs off of. He sends me a text that says

“yo mane you got anymore dem peels?”

I was stoned out of my mind when he sent that and it took me a solid 5 minutes to figure out that dumb motherfuckker didn’t know how to spell pills.

Canceled. Only one L.

It can be done either way.

Quote

Canceled or cancelled is the past tense of the verb to cancel. Both spellings are correct; Americans favor canceled (one L), while cancelled (two Ls) is preferred in British English and other dialects. However, there is only one correct spelling of the word cancellation, no matter where you are.

Loose and lose is used incorrectly constantly.

Necessarily and necessary get misspelled all the time.

Same here...  Then I just re-word the sentence so I don't have to go down that route...

Affect is generally a verb

Effect is generally a noun

I guess that only helps if you know what nouns and verbs are.

The effect of your post is that it may affect how people write.

I want to punch people who say resiliency. How exactly is that different from resilience? Sports announcers say it all the time.

"Turd". Oh no, nevermind. All you have to do is look at Schiff, Schumer,  or Pelosi and it comes right back to mind.

Or... it may effect change in the way people write.

(rare example of "effect" as a verb)
