Fnord 2,298 Posted December 15, 2020 The list as a whole is crap, probably compiled by some college radio station DJ that believes that artists that make enough money to live by playing music are sell-outs. BUT... I'm with the Dude. I fukin HATE the Eagles, man. Lagwagon- NOT OVERRATED Look at the world in disbelief You used to follow, now you lead College has enlightened you And you are proud to be different and like Different bands, different types You ain't nobody's fool It's like certain bands Remind you of someone you hated 'Cause they didn't wear the right clothing And there's only one true fashion A lot of the bands on the college charts Are great bands Until they get signed, Then you hate them It's such bullshit You used to love them, you hypocrite Know it all, know it all Did you really listen to that song? Could you ever write what you call wrong? I remember you and I Listening to bands that we liked Only the songs mattered to you But now you're a D.J. And preaching that hype Corporate rock sucks, you know College radio enlightens you It's supposed to serve as a means To expose new bands without prejudice, But it makes no sense safe harbor For the underground 'Til the alternative becomes The popular sound The bands are good 'Til they make enough cash To eat food and get a pad Then they're sold out And their music is cliché Because talent's exclusive To bands without pay

dain11279 976 Posted December 16, 2020 Kiss should be #1, it’s the only thing they should be #1 at. Awful. Their music makes my ears bleed. U2 definitely belongs on this list as well

Reality 3,121 Posted December 16, 2020 Fleetwood Mac made Rumours. Rumours is a top 5 album of all-time. If you make a top 5 album of all-time, you can't be on an overrated list. Don't @ me, carry on.

Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning was their best IMHO. To each their own of course.

Interesting observation. I’ve been scratching my head as to how Yes could be #2, for instance. Were they ever that big to be overrated? They were one of my favorite bands back in their prog rock days, but IMO they were more obscure then. But then they came out with that Owner of a Lonely Heart crap and they lost me... but became more popular overall, because they sold their soul to the shallow 80s synth sound like so many bands. Iron Maiden is another one; they have a super strong legion of followers, but they were never very popular in the mainstream, so how could they be overrated? Gepetto 1,382 Posted December 16, 2020 Pink Floyd is NOT overrated. What a craptastic list. I'd probably put Pink Floyd and the Beatles as the greatest bands ever. The Rolling Stones are the most overrated.
Bill E. 703 Posted December 16, 2020 8 hours ago, RaiderHaters Revenge said: Van Halen AC/DC Dave Matthews Radiohead INXS Bruce Springstein U2 Foo Fighters hate them all Agree with your list for sure. Later U2 and most Springsteen songs make me turn to something else immediately. From the main list I would remove Fleetwood Mac for sure. Stevie has some really great songs with the band and Buckingham is one of the most underrated guitarists and a great composer. Would also remove Eagles. They had enough talent for three or four bands. The problem with Felder was he was a very good singer but with Henley and Frey there was no room for his voice. Most other bands would be lucky to have him. I also like Rush and Pink Floyd but they are so repetitive that you want to stick a screwdriver in your ears after an hour of their music. Unique sound but overrated. I heard a Rush song recently and said I have not heard that one in years. Then they said it was a new song. Sounds the same as their 70's stuff. Drizzay 725 Posted December 16, 2020 This list was made simply to piss people off. The fact that there is only one hair band (Jon bovi) on the list should tip you off.
Hardcore troubadour 15,521 Posted December 16, 2020 Willing to bet some millennial or younger made this list, even though he got some right. A lot of these huge acts are not standing the test of time. U2 and Bruce come to mind. Fun fact: the first mass produced CD in America was Born In The USA. The cassette and LP were released in June of 1984, the CD in September. So a lot of the sales of that album were double purchases by the same customers, allowing for many more sales and it remaining on the charts as long as it did. Good timing. They changed with the times better than anyone ever. They actually led the change most of the time. They were not selfish and supported each others efforts and music throughout. I can not think of a more influential band.

edjr 6,633 Posted December 16, 2020 Everyone should make their own top 5 1. Springsteen 2. U2 3. Rolling Stones 4. Grateful Dead 5. supermike80 1,964 Posted December 16, 2020 I'm Ok with Led Zeppelin being on this kind of list. I catch a lot of flack for NOT thinking the sun rises and sets over their music, but they never quite did it for me. John Bonham as a drummer is damn good however. The rest meh
