Stimulus Checks for rich people

I would consider myself very rich if I had a 300 thousand foot house.  I'm sure that's slumming for many of you, but for me that would be rich.

Well sh1t.  Looks like I might get some of that cash afterall. Assuming that this online calculator is correct:

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/personal-finance/targeted-1400-stimulus-check-calculator/

The value definitely increases based on # of dependents, but even with zero it seems we'll get something.

Thanks for the PS5 taxpayers!

Edit: the calculator does have the caveat "if the bill passes"

Go to that site and start punching in numbers.  I'm punching in various "married filing jointly" with zero dependents and it appears the cutoff point is $205,999.  If you make that much you'll get a whopping $5.

Looks like they are keeping it at 75k? :overhead:

Let me tell you something fellas, if you ever get renters, cut a deal so they pay you in cash ;)

Yeah. Last I checked my girlfriend and I are both single. Otherwise I'm in for a shock somewhere along the line.

If we did get married, we would still get nothing it seems according to that.

Guess so.  It's the dependents.  I'm over $200k but I have 3 kids, so it's giving me money.

Use whatever word you want.  300k foot house, BMW and a Range Rover, iphone 12, 2 vacations a year, that's considered rich by many.

Financially secure is the term I'd use.

You only need $75k per year to be financially secure.

That's the confusing part. That calculator shows $2k per adult dependent and $1400 under 17. The little info popup says "all dependents regardless of age, presumably now qualify for their own stimulus check rather than being eligible for a supplement paid to the individual claiming them on their taxes"

So you're good if your dependents don't pay their own taxes.

OK, this is definitely confusing as fock.  Here's another online calculator: https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/estimating-your-1400-stimulus-check-total-is-hard-heres-how-to-calculate-2-scenarios/

It has 2 different calculators.  The first one is the "targeted" 1400 payment being discussed.  This calculator results in $0 for me.

The 2nd calculator is "with no changes from the second payment".  This one gives me the same results as the Forbes one.

So, it looks like the one under Trump's watch would pay for my PS5 but Biden's plan gives me zilch.  BIDEN!!!!!

Let's pretend that's actually real.  It says "... found that the ideal income point for individuals is $95,000 for life satisfaction and $60,000 to $75,000 for emotional well-being."  So let's split the difference to $85k.  That's a single person with no kids.  Two people with a kid, I'd say $185k is a reasonable number.  So, if what you posted is actually "real science" and not just a couple hundred thousand people who answered the phone and were honest, then it kind of backs up what I said.  Thanks.

Technically I think the “targeted” thing is lowering the income maximums which the Republicans want (but Democrats don’t)

That being said, almost all of our stimulus checks have gone towards daycare for our two year old.  That sh!t is crazy expensive right now.

Drop your kid off at the fire station :dunno:

Well if you can't live well off of $150K/year, then you're living outside your means, and it's your own damn fault.

But yes, it will likely be used to pay off your bass boat, or just put into the bank, doing nothing to help the economy.

And I agree, we would be better off giving it to people who were focked last year, or more vaccines so we can get back to normal faster.

150k is damn good money. Anyone who can't weather some time out of work making that much doesn't deserve it

NY is getting 50 Billion! That will help with our 63 Billion dollar deficit. More to come I’m sure. Thanks Rusty!

I know! We have no more homeless and crime isn’t an issue anymore, people just stopped reporting it. Except the murders. That’s way up. And some people get pushed on to the subway tracks. But still, if the people don’t want to report the crime, then it’s not happening. Problem solved. We rock! Thanks America!

At this point, what is still being based on? 2019 taxable income?

I think it's 2019 if you haven't filed 2020 yet, but may be based on 2020 if you file before they pay it out

That's only part of it.  After you claim your identity, they check your social media for you displaying your preferred pronouns.

That is why I filed my 2020 taxes already. I was furloughed part of last year and I wanted to try to get under the limit.

I think this is stupid, but if other people get free money I want some too. It can go in my 45k boat fund, I am sure that is what Biden would want :ninja:

Interesting strategy...

According to the AGI on our 2019 tax return Don and Carol filed as married and made too much money.   HOWEVER,  we now self identify as Donna and Carl and we made $0 because society is a bunch of TRANSPHOBES that won't accept our "TRUTH"!!!!   Therefore give me some money Biden.

Think it will work?
