I even tolerated the footer. Having a header and a footer then a video pop up out of the side was a ridiculous pain in the ass.

Got forbid I try to click on something and an ad appears right as I tap the screen. I also have to tap everything AT LEAST twice for it to work.

Strike 5,186 Posted September 8, 2023 Ad Block plus has been the gold standard for ad blockers for a long time. It's open source, free, and they don't collect any data. I use it on my desktop and my phone with Firefox. Works great, no ads.
Strike 5,186 Posted September 8, 2023 Oh, and another thing. For desktops using a "hosts" file is a good idea. It has a list of common ad serving IP addresses and just blocks them from the get go, before your browser even sees anything. A hosts file also improves performance because it never even thinks about hitting those IP addresses.

I would venture to guess that over 95% of the people here have no idea how to properly use a hosts file...

You're probably one of them. But I can still throw it out there for those that might. Instructions are out there for those willing to learn. Or they might know someone familiar with them. Someone not having the current ability to do something is no reason not to give them useful information. Why are you always such a killjoy?

I assume it's working on the videos since I have not seen one but the header and footer remain. If you have to try different ad blockers or pick a specific one that works, I think it's fair for people to be miffed at the ads in general. I don't particularly care, but I get it. bostonlager 2,664 Posted September 9, 2023 When there was a simple ad banner at the top of the page I clicked and bought a Titleist hat once. Ever since he ad bombed the entire forearm with ad and popups I've been using a blocker.
