I was fine with the header. I even tolerated the footer. Having a header and a footer then a video pop up out of the side was a ridiculous pain in the ass.

Same. My screen shrinks on some ads too. Got forbid I try to click on something and an ad appears right as I tap the screen. I also have to tap everything AT LEAST twice for it to work.

Ad Block plus has been the gold standard for ad blockers for a long time.  It's open source, free, and they don't collect any data.  I use it on my desktop and my phone with Firefox.  Works great, no ads.

Oh, and another thing.  For desktops using a "hosts" file is a good idea.   It has a list of common ad serving IP addresses and just blocks them from the get go, before your browser even sees anything.  A hosts file also improves performance because it never even thinks about hitting those IP addresses.

Probably true.  You're probably one of them.  But I can still throw it out there for those that might.  Instructions are out there for those willing to learn.  Or they might know someone familiar with them.  Someone not having the current ability to do something is no reason not to give them useful information.  Why are you always such a killjoy?

I had to go to the App store on my iphone and Get Ad Blocker Pro for Safari, and then after it's on my phone go to Settings/General/Safari and then choose Extensions and turn on all the Ad Blacker Pro choices.

to be fair, I downloaded an ad blocker back when this started and it didn't do anything. I assume it's working on the videos since I have not seen one but the header and footer remain. If you have to try different ad blockers or pick a specific one that works, I think it's fair for people to be miffed at the ads in general.

When there was a simple ad banner at the top of the page I clicked and bought a Titleist hat once. Ever since he ad bombed the entire forearm with ad and popups I've been using a blocker.
