What do you pay for a haircut?

Recommended Posts

My barber is up to $50. I do it because I can afford it and he’s great, old school and does a straight razor shave. But it seems crazy.

How about you?

My barber is $23, I usually add a 5 tip (pay all in cash if I have it).  Russian immigrant I'll call Boris, because that's his name.  It's his business, and I like to support local businesses if I can.  I've paid more in the past, but I don't do anything too fancy and he knows exactly what I want.  He used to live in NY so we chat about my daughter living there.  Mostly though we don't chat -- chit chat is tough for me with the laryngectomy, and he is perfectly happy to quietly cut my hair.

There is another barber there who talks non-stop, worse than a cackling hen.  I'd grab a razor and cut my own throat if I had to sit in his chair.

70 bucks with tip. Also does beard. I’m getting ripped off but he is a good dude, does a good job and have been going for awhile so dealt with price raises.

The owners of the place I go are clients, as are some of the stylists, so when I go there, the haircut is $35, and I tip like $20.

Inflation moved it up from $11.99 to $13.99.

Sole proprietor Indian guy.  Good guy and it's stupid cheap so I give him $30.

$25 plus a $5 tip (which is really cheap as I think the going rate is more like about $35-$40+ for a good hair stylist in L.A.)

Do the the half of the country that didn't see a 25 percent increase in their investments have to pay more for haircuts, too?

I have a simple haircut.  Clipper at the 1.5 setting.  Do it ourselves.  Easier and cheaper.

It would be nice if you were as much of a content detetive as you are an alias detective, because then you'd have a better understanding of what I wrote.

I seriously doubt you give away more than I make, which is around what doctors, lawyers and CEOs make, doing so while working 20-25 hours a week. I've made like $45,000 in just the past week.

I shave it.

Same here and at one point I was a certified hair stylist, so could cut my own probably if I had hair.

Sitting here waiting for a haircut now, oddly enough.  29+20.  $100 tip every year on the cut nearest her birthday and on the one closest to Xmas.   Same girl for 15+ years, friend of my daughter, thus the decent tip.

I cut my own. Clippers with a small guard on the sides and back, longer guard on the top. My wife touches up the back of my neck.

I'm thinking about shaving it all off for the summer, but my wife prefers me to have hair.

70 bucks. Too much, it’s not even that good. Thinking of looking somewhere else

$17 + $3

It was $14 when I started with her about 5 years ago, & I've always given her a $20 & told her to keep the change.

In spite of the tip % coming down as the price of the haircut went up, she always seems happy with it.

Nah.  A lawyer is expected to pay $70 for a haircut.  Goes with the car.

It’s not the money (can’t believe what some of you guys pay — you know they gotta eat too, right?). It’s that for the money, it should be a good haircut.

Leaning towards a Genesis GV70 on the car, but haven’t decided quite yet

I go every 4 weeks. Got to admit I no longer tip but the owner is the one who cuts my hair.

Ha.  Reminds me of covid when you couldn't get your hair cut.  So yep, wife on our back deck with a clipper.

Every two weeks?  I presume you keep it short and clean, something of a military cut?

Or maybe your barber is a hot chick who blows you.

A lot more than what’s been listed so far.  But of course I wouldn’t let a barber within 10 feet of my locks.

I'll splurge on a haircut when the Wifey tells me to, usually when we have a function, wedding, holiday, etc.

Otherwise, I couldn't give a F. I'll go anywhere where there's no wait.

I can’t even imagine being so unconcerned with how you look and how people perceive you.  But then again I see what passes as “men” walking around this country, bald, fat, and sloppy, and I’m no longer shocked.

I figured you went to one of those places where they carve lightning bolts into your crop fade.

Yep.  On the same side as the swastika tat on his face.
