What was your first Video game System?

Recommended Posts

I went from Intellevision -- to Atari to -- Commadore 64 -- to Nintendo (ahhhhhhh Tecmo Bowl and RBI baseball) to -- Sega Genesis (Madden and NBA Live :) ) to -- Playstation (NBA Live and Madden) ... Then I got bored of Video Games around 1999 :dunno:

What route did you go in your video game console journey...

Atari.

Then I discovered large hairy men had more to offer, so that was the last "video game system" I used.

Pong. :)

I'm old.

Yep. Born in 1971, I remember playing Pong with my sister sometime in the mid-70's. Looking back I'm shocked we had that game because my folks didn't spend much on toys.

I'm 1967 and had a brother not a sister, but similarly the Pong system was one of those  things because we rarely got the latest/greatest stuff. The other electronic luxury I remember was the TV "remote" with the slider that wired into your TV.

Yep, I remember you could lift the lid of our TV console and it had a record player inside, talk about an all in one entertainment solution.

I remember the slider. But you needed cable for that. My folks didn't have cable til I went to college. Growing up we had 5 total channels to choose from.

However, I do remember the first remote control I ever saw. My grandparents had one. It had a whopping two buttons on it (forward and backward). And when you clicked it, the giant knob on the TV physically turned and went "CLANK".

The greatest gift I have ever received was the Atari 2600. I went focking bananas when I saw that thing. My dad was close to killing me that night because I wouldn't quit playing yar's revenge and go to bed.

We didn't have the built in record player, but it is nostalgic to remember the days when a TV was a piece of furniture, with a nice wood frame and ornate carving. Your use of "console" took me back to shopping with my mom for a new set; the console days were already going away but she really wanted one. I think we found a Zenith somewhere.

I had a friend in college who's grandmother died. He got her old wooden console stereo, you know the ones on legs, where you lift the top and put the record in? He somehow peenie rigged it to where he could play his iPod through it. It actually had amazing sound, and was a beautiful piece of furniture to boot. You could seek that kind of thing for good money today.

Yes...Quite possibly the most addictive game for young minds ever invented

My personal favorite back in the day was "Adventure" (I was a D&D nerd).

Also, listen to this fagguts narrative..."Ohhh, snaperooni, I don't have the sword"

Sounds almost exactly like the homo from the honey badger vid.

Intellivision.

I played a lot of blackjack, five card stud, seven card stud, and five card against the computer. I also had a game called Night Stalker where you'd rake up your score shooting three robots who constantly respawned in the bottom left of the maze on your TV screen. If you got enough points, you'd get a stronger type of robot to appear. Then there was Donkey Kong- a gorilla throwing barrels at you to jump over, and Mario Brothers another game with a lot of jumping.

Atari 2600 for video game systems. Asteroids was the game I played for hundreds of hours.

1st computer was the Radio Shack TRS-80 - http://oldcomputers.net/trs80i.html

Had a sweet tape drive to play games from.

Never had the monitor, as it plugged into the TV.

Atari and Intellivison. I seem to remember really liking the Intellivision.

Intellivision had the TV remote for a gamepad. I never owned one, but a friend did. I used to go to his house after 6th grade just because he had intellivision. We mostly played football.

Same here with the football. I remember that it had little plastic sleeves unique to each game, that you would slide over the top of the remote. My football sleeve had most of the color worn off of it.

I owned a different sleeve that was worn out the most.

#1 - Pong.

#2 - Intellivision.

I still have two functional Atari 2600 Systems with games and 3 Intellivision Systems with games packed away somewhere because I'm a hoarder.

When I was really young we got an Atari. I remember Pitfall and a Star Wars games the most. However the core of my gaming experience was on the Nintendo. My friends and I spent hours of that thing. Wore the games out where you had to blow in the cartridges to get them to work and mabye even place a perfectly weighted book on top of the console so it would work.

All time favorties were Track and Field, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mike Tysons Punch Out, Super Mario Brothers, Blades of Steel, Double Dribble, and Contra (up, up, down down, left, right, left, right, B, A, select start) :)

Good Times.

Once I got to high school and college I never had another gaming system of my own. I did play a lot of Sega and Playstation on my buddies or roomates systems though over the years.

Not a gamer at all now.
