++ UPDATE: 4-Game Suspension Upheld - 11 of 12 footballs NE used were deflated 2psi!

Recommended Posts

doesn't get it.

So cheating by using deflated footballs is acceptable and it's on the opponent's coach to overcome the Pats' cheating?

Stay classy New England.

it has yet to be determined they cheated in the Indi game, in fact scientific studies are actually strengthening their case. There is no evidence or investigation into them tampering with balls in the ravens game. This is crybaby nonsense for a sore losing whine bag like you. Made up fairy tale horse schit you cling to.

That's all it is.

This investigation is only occurring because Harbaugh lost, his team choked away big leads, Brady scolded him and it hurt his feelings, so the couldn't handle it. He'll look stupid again, just like you.

Prove me wrong.

Lost what? There are like 3 of you jacka$$es still defending the Pats at this point while the rest of the WORLD acknowledges there's credible evidence (otherwise why investigate) that suggest the Pats ONCE AGAIN were caught cheating.

In this battle of wits, you're the Barney Fife of FFToday. You've got one bullet; "you've got nothing if you don't have video evidence" of something that has NEVER been recorded.

I don't know about Columbia physicists, but other have taken up the research and said it's completely feasible. Here is a link to a paper from HeadSmart labs out of Pittsburgh. file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/HeadSmart%20Labs%20DeflateGate%20Lab%20Report.pdf As I understand it, the rough equation is 1lb per 20 degrees, disregarding other variables like moisture and ball contraction. So a 70 degree drop would translate to around 3.5lbs. So if you started at 13lbs, you'd be looking a 9.5lbs psi. People act like this would be a sponge, but a regulation basketball has 7.5-8.5 lbs psi. Part of the misunderstanding comes from not understanding absolute pressure vs gauge pressure IMO. Gauge pressure is a DIFFERENCE between the internal pressure of the ball, or absolute pressure, and external atmospheric pressure - 14.7lbs at sea level. So a ball that GAUGES to 12.5lbs, has an actual internal pressure of 27.2 psi, so 3.5 lbs isn't the change people think it is, and 1-2 lbs absolutely (see what I did there?) isn't the change people think it is.

Most QBs have stated they can tell the difference between balls properly inflated versus ones not. So while everything you wrote might be fine, the issue becomes those differences, however small, are registered by a QB.

And forget about comparing the Colts and Pats balls, because as you say one team could have been playing with theirs a little more than the other. Did they measure the balls after the game as well? Thought I read that they had but I can't remember and am too lazy to look it up now.

All in all, Brady doesn't need a deflated ball to be a great QB. Dude makes the right read, plays with passion, and has good chemistry with his receivers. So that's why he's good and not any of this other stuff. At the same time I wouldn't put it past the Pats to to do something like this. Not because they're shadier than everyone else but they're an NFL team and this is what NFL teams do....they look for the slightest advantage anywhere they can get it. :dunno:

And if there was video evidence of process of deflation they would say "prove those aren't actors".

so they have to prove their innocence, not be proven guilty.

Your words buddy. And apparently brilliant words at that since you're such a focking genius  :first:

Your words - your vapid attempt to put words in other's mouth - are the words in question; not anything I've said.

Don't break you wrist patting yourself on the back, intern.

Glad this story has gone away in the media last few days and they are talking about the game.

Will be very interesting how Godell handles this. He took a lot of beef for destroying all evidence in Spygate and of course this year with Ray Rice,AP,etc public eye is watching/ judging his decision.

IMO the Pats were looking for an edge and knew about deflation. The ballboy will take the fall.

Pats will skate , Richard Sherman nailed it when he said nothing would happen to them.

If they are found guilty, the ballboy probably won't be the only one to go down. Ignorance isn't an acceptable excuse as shown by the Saints punishment. Brady might escape punishment though. It would probably be draft picks and possibly BB. Fines mean very little to an owner who wants a Super Bowl.

At the moment, I'd say it's 50/50 on any punishment as we don't have all the facts of the investigation yet, not to mention that the NFL investigations and rulings seem to be handled by elementary school dropouts. If it was a "sting" as reported and they didn't take detailed notes on measurements on both teams balls every time readings were taken, you should pretty much throw it all out because it's a joke. It's certainly possible that no illegal actions were taken too.

I too am happy that the discussion is turning more to the game nationally and am stoked for the game. Should be a good one!

Saints bounty affected safety though which means money

It affected safety but was not a competitive imbalance. Both teams are always generally trying to punish the other team.

All you assclowns can try and find something else to undermine Belichick and Brady now...

Can't do quotes on phone but here ya go...

GLENDALE, Ariz. As the Patriots prepare to take the field for Super Bowl XLIX, they are apparently looking more and more like winners in the Deflategate saga.

According to the NFL Networks Ian Rapoport, only one of the 12 balls used by the Patriots in the AFC championship was a full 2 PSI below regulation while the other 11 found to be below spec were only a tick below regulation.

This news contradicts a report from Chris Mortensen two days after the AFC title game that 11 of the balls were found to be as much as a full 2 PSI below regulation.

There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Ted Wells into how the balls were handled before the AFC championship game and if there were serious protocol violations by the Patriots. Patriots owner Robert Kraft sounded a confident tone Monday night upon the teams arrival in Phoenix, expressing his support of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and demanding an apology from the league if the report clears the team.

In his state of the league address on Friday, commissioner Roger Goodell said hes not drawn any conclusions and will let the report speak for the league.

But the more that comes out, the more it appears the Patriots will be vindicated. Here is more from Rapoport on Sunday morning:

Prior to the game, a game-day worker employed by the Patriots, a man described as elderly, took two bags of 12 footballs (one bag from each team) into the restroom near the referees room in Gillette Stadium. The man was in the room for 98 seconds. When he exited the room, he took the balls to the field. There is video of the man entering and exiting the bathroom, but its unclear if there is a clear shot inside the restroom. That the man entered the restroom prior to walking with the footballs onto the field was discovered by the Patriots, and video footage was quickly turned over to Ted Wells for his investigation. When coach Bill Belichick and Tom Brady were told there were questions about the footballs, both were incredulous. Belichick indicated privately what he said publicly: That he had little knowledge of what went into pregame footballs. Brady told someone close to him that he works on the footballs all week, then has no idea what happens to them on gameday. Eleven of the 12 footballs used in the first half were judged by the officials to be under the minimum of 12.5 PSI, but just one was two pounds under. Many of them were just a few ticks under the minimum. Many of the footballs used in the AFC title game, which all have Walt Andersons initials on them, were returned to circulation among the rest of the Patriots game-day footballs. Because Anderson was the referee for two other Patriots games this season, there are more than 30 footballs with his initials in the teams possession. It appears the league has the football DQwell Jackson intercepted and took to the sidelines to ultimately hand over to his equipment staff.

Don't know if this has been verified, but there's a report that the one ball that was 2 psi under was Jackson's interception...i.e., the ball that went to the Colts sideline. If true, this gets interesting.....

So, it was the Indy GM who turned the Pats in and Harbaugh swears up and down he had nothing to do with it. Not sure I buy it.

Harbaugh does not strike be as a man who can be believed

I wouldn't trust either Harbaugh for any reason at any time. That said the investigation remains ongoing - read today that the NFL hasn't spoken with Brady or Bellicheck yet.

Till the final song us sung - congrats Pats fans everywhere. Twas a hell of a game.

What will be the punishment for the colts when the truth comes out ?

Draft picks and fines ? Suspend the coach for the year ?

Sneaky sore losing cheaters.

Grigson getting penalized for alerting the NFL about the balls being under inflated? Not gonna happen. Reports are at least 1 ball was noticeably light, and few facts have been reported about the rest. Investigation remains ongoing. Don't be a sore winner drobeski.

sorry left out, when the league determines the colts let the air out of the ball.

Wouldn't it be kind of odd if the one closer to 2 lbs was the one they ratted with ?

The latest "leaks" quietly announced during pregame was the rest of the balls were ticks off or closer to regulation.

A set up gone bad.

its pretty clear that Indy tampered with the ball... It makes ZERO sense for one ball to be significantly out of spec from the others. Remember they cycle the balls through all the plays. Having one flatter ball would make no sense.

I would hope the NFL and press would go after Indy with the same voracity they went after NE. We all know that won't happen... But the takeaway is that all the haters can suck on a big fat one...
