Couple pics of the customization work on my Z. Best car I've ever owned; had it since new. I have almost 250K on it; was totalled when I was rear-ended on a freeway entrance ramp. Bought it back from the insurance company; my agent prevented the 'salvage title' tag because it was so cherry, and I customized it myself and actually gained about $5,000 on the deal in the process.

gotcha- medium bodied, low tanins. pinot noir? cab franc? rioja?

Yes. I like some Pino Noirs. I was into Coppola blended red awhile back, but that's probably because I toured that place years ago and love The Godfather movies.

One of my favorite wines of all time is from your area. The Cakebread Chardonnay. But, I've moved away from whites in favor of reds for the purported health benefits.

The MI wine scene is booming so there are some good wines to be had nearby. Round Barn winery makes a lot of fruit flavored wines that aren't my thing, by their reserve merlot is quite good.

from what i recall, MI makes some good eis wein, and other dessert wines (gewurztraminer and rieslings)...also wines from other fruits (i could be mistaken). i know that you guys have some more common varietals, just not wonderfully done.

let me know if you care to expand your base. happy to offer recommendations.

That blue is my favorite color on a Range Rover. It looks great on the SVR. I just can't justify spending 150K on an SUV though, and the Velar really impresses me. The interior and infotainment system is the best I've ever seen in a vehicle.

That's what I was going for, so thanks!

Pics don't do it justice. The floor took 34 gallons of epoxy to do. When it's in sunlight or my garage lights are on, the metallic in the floor glows like automotive paint. One of the effects I used to create 3 dimensional depth in the pearl was to use a leaf blower to 'lift' the pearl before the epoxy began to set. I also used denatured alcohol with some of the pearl powder mixed in and 'flicked' it on the floor. It created craters in the pearl - but kept the clear suspension glass flat - and made the floor look about 1/2" deep when you're looking straight down at it in the light.

That garage floor is pretty neat. What inspired you to design/install such a fancy finish in a room used primarily for storage?

Are you focking kidding me? His garage floor looks like a herpes outbreak

Also, I hate Nissans with a passion

Then again, who am I kidding...My first "luxury" car was a 1988 Maxima SE (5 speed...go figure)

I only hate Nissan cause of their backassward engineering ideas on quite a few of their 2000 - 2013 vehicvles.

Kind of obvious that he spends quite a bit of time in it restoring vehicles.

It's more than just storage for me. I do plenty of projects, and spend quite a bit of time in there. It's set up more like a man cave.

OK. How'd you choose the style?

Don't like it, eh? Hm. To each his own, I guess. Everyone who has seen it in person has loved it - or they're really good liars.

I can't think of anything I'd consider 'backwards' on my Z, but maybe I'll come up with something. What sort of things do you think are backwards?

My opinion is mostly based upon looks, performance and reliability.

I'm 6'4", and can stretch my legs straight out in it. Two seater.

Well, it's kind of a 'one-off'. When catalyzed, the epoxy gives you a limited working time. The base coat was white, and it looked so good and clean that I was tempted to stop right there, but I followed through. After 24 hours, the midcoat was applied, and that was done in 4 different buckets (for the different colors). Mix the pearl in, pour the pearl out in ribbons - criss-crossed with the other 3 colors - and then I used a notched squeegee to spread it out/mix the colors. I then backrolled with a 24" wide roller meant for epoxy.

Had I kept troweling long enough, the colors would have blended more and the overall effect would have been more subtle. I stopped when I got the point where the colors were intermingled but still defined, and early enough so that I had enough time to model the pearl: to create the 3D effect with the leaf-blower and cratering - but I had to stop after awhile because it started to set, and the clear started not releveling.

If I had to do it over again, I would have poured out the epoxy on a cooler day, to give me more time. I would have liked the colors to have mingled more than they actually did.

I had seen quite a few pics of other people's projects, and just picked colors which were compatible with other aspects of my house and that I thought would look good together.

After the floor was done, I tiled my stoop with copper quartzite (slate-like), and did glass and blue glass pearl inset design, grouted with crystal epoxy:

I would be in the ER .0003 seconds after slipping on that. As cool as it looks, there is no chance I'd do that to my garage floor.

It's not slippery. It actually grabs the sole of your shoe. There's a non-slip additive in the topcoat.

Welding

That's something I'd like to learn how to do. I have a crappy little harbor freight 110v welder, but it mostly spatters and leaves lumps of metal instead of the flat dime thing.

That garage floor is the sh1t! Omg, I love it! That Range Rover is nice too. I used to date someone years ago that loved his Z and put a lot of money customizing his as well.

No one knows more than me about:

HIV, Herpes, Flow cytometry

Curly Hair and hair care products

Makeup (and for a woman I don't know much but I bet I know more than you guys)

Vaginas and anything related

Ballet
