If you told libs to stand on their heads with their thumbs inserted in each other, they'd do it.

If fraud fauci or the corrupt CDC told them eating their own sh1t would give them 8 months of 'immunity' from covid, they would insert a pipe in their ass and hook it up to their mouth.

Interesting how the virus talk has devolved into 100% vaccine talk.  And still zero data on those who have had it.  :dunno:

Why only one dose? They CDC said it’s completely safe, and for it to be most effective you now need 3. Why are you all of a sudden shunning their advice?

I don't agree with all of their advice, including people under like 50 "needing" a third dose.  At least not until we have some more data.   As far as 1 vs. 2, you still get some protection from 1, and even among the common side effects it's well documented that they are worse after the 2nd, which I wouldn't necessarily want a pregnant woman to have to deal with.  The UK has also had some pretty good results with spacing out the 2 doses so you could always take the 2nd dose after the baby is born.

While I think it was necessary to get it out to the right people quickly I still don't think young, healthy people should be as willing to rush and get it.

I agree.   But most "young and healthy" people were at the back of the line and by the time they could get it many millions already had it.

FYI, he's being facetious.

4.5 times as many humanoids in India than in the USA. They are distributing Ivermectin in almost every province. Less than 9% jabbed. 5x the cases in the USA and 2x the deaths.

So you believe India's #'s now?   They just had their Delta wave earlier (which is where Delta started btw, so good to see you at least agree the vaccine didn't cause it), which led to a huge spike in deaths that may have been 10x as bad as the reported numbers.

I know plenty of conservative people who have gotten it too.  From my experience it's the people who are more conservative that are more reluctant to get or just refuse to at all.  They are generally the more vocal people I know and are more of the fringe right.  Some of the people I know who haven't gotten it are like me and don't want to yet because we've already had COVID.

My opinion is that liberals are more likely to guilt people into getting the shot than conservatives.  Conservatives don't trust getting the shot as much but some are still getting it.  This is all just from my own experiences with people I know.

Because you don’t need a shot if you are under 60 unless you are obese or have pre-existing conditions. And there is data on that.

Link?  I'd say at least starting at 50 and that's if the only goal is to not die.

So Tim gets to decide what’s right for him and his family, the rest of you need to get in line. Sounds fair. Also, most of the country is people under 50.

Most of the county is also overweight.

I also specified with the above post "if the only goal is to not die."  If you want to reduce the risk of hospitalization then that number should be a lot lower, probably more like 25 if not lower.

Not searching through that nonsense for something we both know doesn't exist. Pluck out the number if it's in there.

It's mostly the stuff right in the beginning:

A. Assessment of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection 1 year after primary infection in a population in Lombardy, Italyexternal icon. Vitale et al. JAMA Internal Medicine (May 28, 2021).

Key findings:

  • Cumulative incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was significantly lower among previously infected persons compared with those with no prior infection (HR 0.06, 95% CI 0.05-0.08) (Figure).
    • 0.31% (95% CI 0.03%-0.58%) were reinfected compared with 3.9% (95% CI 3.5%-4.2%) who developed primary infection.

Limitations: Study was performed prior to widespread circulation of SARS-CoV-2 variants.

B. Risk of reinfection after seroconversion to SARS-CoV-2: A population-based propensity-score matched cohort studyexternal icon. Leidi et al. Clinical Infectious Diseases (May 27, 2021).

Key findings:

  • After a mean of >8 months post-serological testing, persons with antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 were less likely to develop SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with those without antibodies (HR 0.06, 95% CI 0.02-0.14).
    • 1 % of seropositive persons were reinfected compared with 15.5% of seronegative persons.

Limitations: Potential for undercounting cases; study was performed prior to widespread circulation of variant viruses.

Implications for Leidi et al. and Vitale et al.: Both studies suggest that SARS-CoV-2 reinfections are rare events and that persons who have recovered from COVID-19 have minimal risk of reinfection for at least 8 months after the primary infection; the data on reinfection due to variants is still emerging.

Sorry, thought you were referring to risk of reinfection since you brought it up in the same post about vaccines.

There have been other studies estimating how many have it though.   I do agree that we could have done more to give people antibody tests, but looks like the CDC currently estimates about 70 million people or 22% of the country have been infected - https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcases-updates%2Fcommercial-labs-interactive-serology-dashboard.html#national-lab).

This of course doesn't include all of the reporting on cases but I guess that counts as "zero data."

Come on Tim, this is too low a number and you know it.  You don't even need data scientists to tell you that.

Worth noting that it looks like that was as of around June, so wouldn't include the current spike.   If I'm reading that link right there were about 33 million confirmed cases at that point (6/27), and they were estimating 70 million (so 2.1X).  Worldometers had 34.4 million then and 38 million now so if you just take the change and use the same multiplier that'd be about another 7.5 million estimated infections so about another 2.3% on top of the initial 22%.

Here's a different (non-CDC) study that put it at 15-20% in January 2021, so it may not be too far off - https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2781907

But feel free to share some additional links if you have them.   Not sure where you stand specifically, but it's weird, many of the same people claiming there are "many false positive tests" or that the tests are just "marking flu as covid," also seem to think half the country has already had covid...

A wise government would do antibody testing (as I have said all along).  As a result we have extremely limited data on true reinfection rates.  Lack of this data is extremely suspicious, when it would be relatively easy to obtain.  I agree that "Polling" has been done on very limited basis.

I agree we should have tried harder to do it.  I don't think it would have been "easy" to obtain it though.

For a while here, you couldn't see a doctor at all, even set foot in a hospital, without a 24 hour covid test, vaxed or not.

I usually go to a private clinic, as they speak English, and the public hospitals are a joke.

They weren't allowed to see me if I had vomiting, diarrhea,  headache, or sore throat... even vaxed, even with a test. Public hospital only.

Not in the US...every doctor I've went to they asked if you had any contact with someone with confirmed covid or if you had any symptoms and about half took your temperature, but hardly anywhere required a test.  I can't imagine more than a couple places requiring patients being vaccinated, and if they do you'd know about it before you went to your appointment.

Of course. Nobody claims masks or the vaccine stops the vitus. Oh wait, they did just that with the vax until proven otherwise. Now they act like they always said all it would do is marginally reduce severity of symptoms of course.

We were never at war with Eurasia.

No they never said the vaccine stopped getting it completely.  They just said it was 95% effective at doing so (against the strain it was developed for), and even that was based on “symptomatic disease.”

Do we have any vaccines that are 100% effective?

Lou: ‘And everybody in there can still get sick even though they’re vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Certainly.’
Lou: ‘So why can’t I go in again?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘I’m not asking who’s vaccinated or not!’
Bud: ‘I’m just telling you how it is.’
Lou: ‘Nevermind. I’ll just put on my mask.’
Bud: ‘That’s fine.’
Lou: ‘Now I can go in?’
Bud: ‘Absolutely not?’
Lou: ‘But I have a mask!’
Bud: ‘Doesn’t matter.’
Lou: ‘I was able to come in here yesterday with a mask.’
Bud: ‘I know.’
Lou: So why can’t I come in here today with a mask? ….I you say ‘because I’m unvaccinated’ again, I’ll break your arm.’
Bud: ‘Take it easy buddy.’
Lou: ‘So the mask is no good anymore.’
Bud: ‘No, it’s still good.’
Lou: ‘But I can’t come in?’
Bud: ‘Correct.’
Lou: ‘Why not?’
Bud: ‘Because you’re unvaccinated.’
Lou: ‘But the mask prevents the germs from getting out.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but people can still catch your germs.’
Lou: ‘But they’re all vaccinated.’
Bud: ‘Yes, but they can still get sick.’
Lou: ‘But I’m not sick!!’
Bud: ‘You can still get them sick.’
Lou: ‘So then masks don’t work!’
Bud: ‘Masks work quite well.’
Lou: ‘So how in the heck can I get vaccinated people sick if I’m not sick and masks work?’
Bud: ‘Third base.’
