Coronavirus - Doomsday

Fock the US citizens. They’re ultimately in control. The overwhelming majority want everything for as cheap as possible. Cheap labor and significantly more lax safety and pollution restrictions means sending manufacturing outside our country. We reap what we sow.

I don’t. I‘ll pay more or do without.  Nothing besides medicine coming from there can’t be replaced with something from somewhere else. And hopefully their days of making our medicine will be coming to an end.

Nothing I've learned from this pandemic has surprised and infuriated me more than that we've allowed our pharmaceutical industry to be moved to China.  Crazy.

Yeah. Trump and Congress  has to put a stop to that. I don’t think he can proclaim it right now though. We need them at this moment.

Flu is something like 40,000 deaths this season. Should we make a bet that there are more (or less) than 100k deaths from COVID-19?

I swear I responded to this but it went poof.

Anyway, hell yeah I'll take that bet (US deaths), as long as there is an end date so it doesn't drag on forever.  September 1?

Sure. September 1. Don’t watch Trump’s press briefing today. They put the low number now at 100k.

Texas Gov. Abbott just extended school closings thru May 4th..... and social distancing guidelines thru April 30th.

Looks like we will be working from home till May 1st - at least.

This, and the undeniable media hatred coming from the left. e.g. Maddow etc..

The whole notion of a global economy is making a lot less sense now.

I used to watch Shark Tank religiously and the sharks always wanted to move manufacturing off shore.   So much so that they sometimes blasted contestants who wanted to maintain Made in the USA status.

H. Ross Perot called it.

You gotta wonder where we would be had he ever won.  NAFTA might have never happened, China might never have become the economic superpower that they have, our national debt might not be 23 Trillion...

Hadn't thought about it.  Maybe I'll send him a TB in TB jersey?  :D

He sure did. And of course they mocked him. Meanwhile I thought “that makes sense “.  It’s funny how every grandiose idea the elitists come up with for the rest of us only benefits them.  I’m no socialist, but I do have a bit of “off with their heads” in me.

I honestly don't know what to think anymore. For example, today they reported that the death rate isn't quite as awful as they were initially recording. But still higher than the flu.

But, when this is all over with, the way things are going, it seems like all of this will know someone or at least know someone who knows someone who died from this damn bug.

Personally, if there's a good thing, I think we're already seeing people start to finally not give a s*** about the real housewives  of Toledo or the Kardashian kuunts or some of the other silly b******* that seemed to captivate us last 10 years or so.

These things could be reversed, but not overnight.   It would take decades to set things right, and I’m not confident we’ll elect leaders who’ll see it through.

Oh, we won't.  Trump is an anomaly, sadly.  The only hope is if he is reelected and then basically spends his final 4 years laying the groundwork for a third party which is nationalist.  The Republican Party elders hate him just as badly as the Dems.  They are just smiling and lying until he's gone.

It would be great if this whole ordeal lead to tighter border controls and more restrictive trade with 3rd world countries.

Unfortunately, Washington will be forced to open the floodgates at some point to save the economy.

I think there will be enough people unemployed that they will not need people from outside the country to fill the jobs.

Welp. I'm working numerous hospitals in AZ losing their SH!T . ER's are getting blown up by retards. Admissions are hysterically low. Fellow RT's are taking selfies with fancy homemade masks looking for attention on facebook. Isolate your old folks and compromised. This is a media induced show that is gonna fock this economy for years. On the bright side, it did wake up state and feds to prepare for a REAL epidemic.

Maybe not overnight, true.  But we could start with Apple and GM bringing their factories home. Yeah, they’ll make less money and maybe their stock won’t go up as much.   But less profit isn’t no profit. Nike too. They’ll still be rich as Fock.

As an engineer this makes no sense to me.  If I am wearing a mask I am by definition covering my mouth and nose, which is where the virus ultimately needs to go.  Worst case I touch my ears or the outer edge of my face to adjust.  Contrast that with having your mouth and nose completely exposed to any touching let alone breathing.

This airborne thing seems like a crock as well.  When an infected person exhales/coughs, the virus is in the moisture.  So I may not be able to get it if it hits my mouth directly, but if it lands on a table, it can survive for days until I touch it and lick my finger?  :dunno:

That a because he's completely full of sh!t. Look at the curves for countries that wore masks (Japan, SK) vs those who didn't (Italy, US).

The difference between those countries isn't masks. Although I won't argue about effectiveness because I don't know.

Italy's death toll was calculated using the idea that all those that died with the coronavirus, died of the coronavirus.

I guess they've only confirmed that 12% of the close to 10k actually died of the virus.

Hopefully the US isn't using the same method.

There is a difference.

I saw this a couple days ago as well.  I don't think the US is using the same method, but who knows.

I’ve posted on this before.

160,000 people die each year in the US to respiratory complications.  If we lose 200,000 Americans to Covid19 that would mean only an additional 40,000 Americans died from covid19.

give or take a little....
