Good news is I'm the first surgery so I don't have to wait for some indeterminate delay. Bad news is I need to drive 45 minutes for that report time. My wife is wigging out more about this than I am. Probably because her uncle had this procedure -- albeit in his 70s and a heavy smoker all his life, whereas I'm in my 50s and never smoked, but... um, he died during it. I presume his lung wouldn't re-inflate? Anyway, I don't expect to die, but wish me luck anyway, especially about the nodule being benign. Also the not dying part. If anything goes wrong, I assume we will give you Angel Cabrera and Mike Weir for your final 2 picks. Good Luck, buddy

jerryskids 6,546 Posted April 8 All went well. Here is what my wife has been sending out: He's done and in recovery. The nodule is "consistent with squamous cell" (what he's had before). She took some more lymph nodes but they looked normal. They will test them. He'll be in recovery for "a while". She said his lungs look great. Funny, we always hear how healthy he is other than the cancer. So, while expected, it being cancer sucks. We'll figure out a plan in the next few weeks. 8

Gepetto 1,285 Posted April 8 Sorry to hear this for you, but surgery, etc. sounds promising. I hope all goes well and you are (or become) cancer free. Just realized I didn't hit reply to the message I wrote, above. Glad you are out of surgery. Good that you have a positive attitude. That is often found to help immensely. Don't think you can say "squamus" anymore. Think its; Indigimous.

The only thing is that there is a little air between my lung and skin, so they want to watch that. They'll monitor today and take a few xrays. It doesn't seem that concerning to them, but they want to make sure they don't take the chest tube out, send me home, then I need to come back in. I was hoping to get out of here earlier, but now my target is by evening.
