Apparently Jada Pinkett Smith Has Decided For You That Cleopatra Was Actually Black

GREEKS AND EGYPTIANS DEMAND AN END TO THE FALSIFICATION OF QUEEN CLEOPATRA'S HISTORY: ALMOST 60K SIGN THE PETITION TO STOP NETFLIX'S NEW DOCUMENTARY

Following the release of the trailer for Netflix's new series "Queen Cleopatra," produced by Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of Will Smith, a petition to cancel the show has gained significant traction online. Over 60,000 people have already signed the petition, which calls for the cancellation of the show due to concerns surrounding historical inaccuracies and cultural appropriation. Critics argue that the series, which chronicles the life of the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, Cleopatra VII, is riddled with historical inaccuracies that perpetuate misconceptions about the real origin of the Queen. The contentious series has spurred heated discussions on social media about historical revisionism, racism, supremacism, and ethnicity. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the casting of the main character, with some arguing that the actress chosen to play Cleopatra is not representative of the historical figure's ethnicity.

Maha Shehata and Aikk Yasser organized the petition to halt the upcoming documentary because it was "falsifying history." The creators of the petition claim that Egyptians who believed that Egyptian history was being misrepresented were responsible for its creation. A group's desire to claim Egypt's history and deprive the true Egyptians of it is being pushed via the pseudoscience known as “afrocentrism.” They are still trying to fabricate history using fraudulent articles and no supporting proof, according to the petition's opening statement.

Netflix has yet to issue an official response to the petition and the show is still set to premiere in the upcoming weeks. The controversy surrounding the show highlights the ongoing debate around the importance of historical accuracy and cultural representation in film and television productions. It remains to be seen whether Netflix will address these concerns or if the backlash will have any impact on the show's release.....Cleopatra VII, the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, was a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, which descended from Ptolemy I, a Macedonian Greek general who served under Alexander the Great. As a result, some argue that Cleopatra's ancestry was primarily Greek, and thus, she should not be portrayed as a black queen. Others, however, assert that presenting Cleopatra as a black queen could contribute to a more inclusive and diverse representation of historical figures in film and television.

********

So a huge part of this issue Netflix is categorizing this as a "documentary" or a "docu-drama"

If this was some kind of "reimagining" as Brett Cooper points out, then you have an entirely different situation. But it's not.

But you can't just rewrite history because you feel like it. Also you can't have the same political ideology ( the radical left) gate keeping on the issue of "cultural appropriation" when it serves them, and then just ignores stuff like this because it doesn't fit their personal agenda.

Think about it, when everything is streaming and digital and no one has hard copies of books, music and film anymore, then what is going to stop the woke agenda from changing and "fixing" everything they find offensive?

I find Jada Pinket Smith abrasive.

I have no idea as to the amount of pigmentation in Cleopatra.

I had a springer spaniel named cleopatra.  Best bird dog ever, water and upland.  I have never seen another dog to compare, in life, or through media. Gone 40 years now and i still grieve.

The more Important question, was she a Tranny ?

Actually the important question is if Cleopatra had a mixed race child or not. One viewpoint that has emerged is that some depictions of Cleopatra in her time period were a bit darker, to create the perception of more legitimacy for her child to inherit the throne.

But, by all accounts, Ptolemy I and his line practiced insular marriages. They married within the family. That would seem completely offensive to modern sensibilities, but back then, it was more complicated. Marriage was for economic reasons, military alliances and overall geopolitical strategy at that level.

It is believed that Cleopatra could have had some Iranian blood in her lineage. Also it's possible that there some Persian blood in the mix.

Another issue is some pundits are saying Pinkett Smith is promoting Cleopatra as a type of "warrior queen"

What happens when the radical left has decided that history needs to be changed when they feel like it? That's more than a troubling thought. Do any of you want "To Kill A Mockingbird" to be changed all over the country one day, because it's no longer "appropriate" for diversity and "racial harmony"?  So it's not just this project, the issue becomes where does it all end?

That's settled history. Her parents were siblings with the same father and she married two of her brothers.

This is where I think this situation gets a little interesting.

In real life, people all throughout history have been "cucked"  I mean the old joke about Prince Harry is that he has the bodyguard's eyes. While Cleopatra, on paper, married two of her brothers, there's nothing saying she didn't just ride any number of guys from any number of backgrounds, that might be the actual biological father of her children, etc, etc. Or some of her kids.

Same thing for her parents. There's no guarantee that her mother didn't "cuck" her father. And mix it up with someone of any possible background.

Now obviously, given that period in time, a child that is clearly, by color and pigment, not in line with the parents most visible skin color, that could end up very badly for that infant.

But the most woke won't allow this to be part of the narrative. Part of that is because African Americans have a long standing consistently widespread pattern with broken homes, single motherhood and absentee fathers in America. I mean Pinkett Smith could say Cleopatra's mother was raped, and that's why she's black. But then she would have to assess a black man in history as a rapist. And that the royal line at the time would even tolerate a black infant coming from what appears to be two traditionally Greek parents, etc, etc.

That's the thing. There is an easy way to imply why Cleopatra was black. But since it can't fit into the woke ideology and the typical woke narrative, then it can't be discussed. Even if it's the most realistic scenario possible ( i.e. "cucking")

Radical leftists tell each other all the time - "Find your truth!"

As if that operates as a pure blank check to ignore historical record and the facts at hand.

But do you see the strategy here? Jada Pinkett Smith is under no obligation to make a good documentary that can stand on it's own. She gets the free media buzz for doing something "edgy" and then if it fails, because it might actually suck, she can say it's because so many people in America are racists and bigots. And she reaps the ESG value out of all of it.

I'm sure Jada Pinkett Smith's ancestors did lots of interesting and important things, but they never did develop the ability to write so their accomplishments are lost to us. What she wants to do is appropriate somebody else's recorded history instead.

Right. Using that logic we should never see an AA ever ride a skateboard or a plane ever again....right? This is how stupid their positions are.

Egyptian lawyer sues Netflix for casting Black woman as Cleopatra

An Egyptian lawyer has filed a lawsuit against streaming giant Netflix for depicting Pharoh Cleopatra as a Black woman in a new documentary. Lawyer Mahmoud al-Semary filed the lawsuit with a public prosecutor with the intention of having Netflix banned in Egypt for what he claimed was a distortion of history. Al-Semary claimed that the Netflix documentary distorts Egypt's history in favor of promoting Afrocentrism. He also complained of warped standards, stating in the lawsuit that "most of what Netflix platform displays do not conform to Islamic and societal values and principles, especially Egyptian ones.” He added that "in order to preserve the Egyptian national and cultural identity among Egyptians all over the world, there must be pride in the makings of such work.”

Netflix cast the British Actress Adele James to play Cleopatra in what has seemingly become a controversial choice. "We don't often get to see or hear stories about black queens, and that was really important for me, as well as for my daughter, and just for my community......"  The role of Cleopatra was originally meant to be played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot. However, there was a significant public backlash surrounding the choice, and Netflix was accused of white-washing the historical figure.

The decision resulted in campaigns for Cleopatra to be recast and played by an Arab or African actress, despite the fact that she was Macedonian. “First of all if you want to be true to the facts then Cleopatra was Macedonian,” Gal Gadot told the BBC.
