I'd like to have a serious discussion on legitimate concerns regarding the upcoming Trump presidency. I've got some friends and family who aren't handling this well, much like the 4B and other sky screamers on Tik Tok and the MSDNC. I would like to have a rational discussion with them, and with you. Doing so IMO involves acknowledging legitimate concerns they may have. To that end, please state on an actual concern that the Left might have which is potentially valid. I'd like to acknowledge these in such discussions. Here, I'll start, for @The Real timschochet 's benefit: If Trump institutes the tariffs in the way he's described, it would likely cause a significant increase in prices for a lot of everyday goods. I've argued that this is part of his "art of the deal" to get China to negotiate, but that is my opinion only, so this is a valid concern. I don't want to limit discussion, but I'll say right now that "he said he'd be a dictator on day one" is dumb and not going to make the cut, since this is childish and has been debunked. I'll collect rational concerns in the following post. TIA!

Under the incoming Trump administration and Republican Congress, I fear: That there will be destruction of nature in favor of drilling and construction. Unqualified people will be put in charge of government agencies. Important institutions will no longer be funded properly. That illegals will be treated inhumanely. That white nationalists will become more active and potentially violent toward people of color.

Liberal Wokeness has destroyed this Country. Hopefully The Boss ends it forever.

This is going to be incredible. I am so pumped about what's happening. I'm still open to disagreeing with Trump on certain things. I don't trust the government and that didn't change because the guy I voted for won. This just feels different though. A president who will actually try to get things done instead of throwing his arms up in the air after a half ass attempt. Or even a pretend half ass attempt.

The whole resist thing isn’t going to be real UNLESS Trump really goes through with the mass deportation deal and tries to send authorities to round up millions of people. If that actually happens (which I still kinda doubt) then we will see massive unrest, violence. And it will be really really ugly. But somehow I still can’t see it because the effects on the economy will be so detrimental. With the tariffs I hope Trump gets talked out of them. But if he enacts them then my main hope the outcry from the public is so massive that they are quickly retracted.

Second concern: I want to know how this mass deportation is going to work. I do not want people who look like they might not be citizens (whatever that looks like) harassed by police and asked for papers. I do not want people encouraged to report on their neighbors, or employers asked to turn in to the police or ICE the names of people they know or suspect to be undocumented. I see this whole thing as being really ugly and scary.

If folks can't admit the massive difference in voters is at least puzzling, that's on them. Whatever, we're past it, hopefully we're never in that sort of situation again. Silver lining, we'll get to go a cycle without hearing how horrible the electoral college is from the usual bozos. That'll be nice.
