4 pointsI’m a staunch proponent of eliminating government waste and inefficiency. I’ve felt that way since I was a teen, before I could even vote. However… I feel trepidation about having the government run like a sociopathic corporation. Corporations care ONLY about the bottom line— do anything at all for the sake of return to shareholders. Corporations by design ignore the human element and the real human consequences of their actions. That should give everyone reason for caution when transferring the corporate attitude to government. I want to eliminate government stupidity, but it needs to be done thoughtfully.

3 pointsCertainly Admirals and Generals would have had far greater exposure to and familiarity with the scope and capabilities of our military, particularly our naval and air assets. While Hegseth's service is laudable, and his education impressive, his experience does seem extremely limited. Had he been made the head of Veteran's Affairs I could have supported that appointment, but Sec. of Defense, I want someone with broader experience and perspective than a platoon commander.

2 pointsMusk said the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will also have a leaderboard for the 'most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars'

2 points1. Elon plus Vivek is a home run. I do not think most people realize the significance of teaming these two up. 2. Any person here at the Geek Club who’s ever worked in a business environment knows the importance of driving efficiency and cutting waste to directly affect the bottom line. it’s about time our own elected government thinks in these terms.

1 pointLearn to roll a burrito might be more appropriate. The gringos at chipotle can’t do it right.

1 pointOne FEMA worker said they should avoid Trumper homes. She was apparently outed by her colleagues and fired immediately. Am I getting that story right? This probably wouldn’t even be a story if Trump, Musk and other right wing weirdos hadn’t been spreading false rumors about disaster relief. They’re going to get somebody killed eventually.

1 pointStill no @OldMaid sightings? Wow. This election must have left her devastated. There's a good lesson to learn here, folks: don't let your hubris override your common sense. OldMaid flew too close to the sun, confident it wouldn't burn her, only to perish in the blazing solar heat of Trump.

1 pointI think it's reasonable for the Middle East bad guys to think that they would be better off negotiating some sort of off ramp with the Biden admin, because once Sheriff Don is in town, he's going to start cracking skulls over there. IIRC, your point was that it's hypocritical to oppose government bloat of unelected official, then have one unelected official (Musk) with outsized power to whack entire government organizations? If so, my response would be (1) I don't think Musk will actually have that power, more of a consultive/advising role, and (2) I don't see how you avoid that hypocrisy, since there is no elected position like this. I don't know what you are talking about. I'm culling comments from this thread -- if you have something to add, feel free. But I don't have the time to read every post of every thread looking for nuggets to post here.

1 pointRemember how good it felt libtards? How happy you were about political prosecutions? How does it feel now? What a bunch of suckers and losers.

1 pointNo worries I don't think I ever really defended the tranny stuff or "we don't know what a woman is" and honestly I think that stuff is silly. I teach- we go through trainings on it- so I am sympathetic to it in some respects because I can see how someone is wrestling with something that I am never going to fully understand but I also always think to myself "Man the world is going to make fun of you." But honestly- I don't care about it to the level of anger that some people rise to it. Like for some people (like League Champion/Maximum Overkill) it feels like a personal vendetta which I just do not understand. I guess for me a lot of it falls into the category as some of this stuff where I think "It doesn't affect me, I don't care" I am critical of some of the stuff here that liberals say but I'm one comment of 20 against that person whereas the other way I'm one comment of 3. The latter is always going to stand out more. And I'm far more attack mode against some of those people on the right because some of them- not all- spend so much time saying "You're a pedophile" and other garbage like that. I have no respect for people like that and I won't engage them in a friendly manner in any way. If realtim decides to start bringing that smoke at me- he will get lit up too. I've said this before and I'll say it again. I generally like you. We may differ on things at times but I appreciate the fact that you will actually try to engage a conversation with something resembling a coherent argument. Others (like Old Maid) disagreed with me on that but I hold firm to those beliefs. You aren't someone spamming up threads, you aren't in here just dropping in Twitter links and passing that off as an argument, you aren't just popping in to name call and run away, and you aren't just popping in with non sequitur BS. You are big on the weird "glory hole" stuff at times but it should be noted that has been toned way back as of late. You are better than some of the people here who associate with you more politically.
