The verdict comes down on a Saturday night and everyone in America is too high or drunk to care.

Not happy a kid did something stupid and was killed but justice was served by an UN-biased jury.

I'm sure the riots are coming at some point. Poor little ole Al Sharpton, he must be so sad.

http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/13/naacp-calls-on-obama-admin-to-pursue-civil-rights-charges-against-zimmerman/

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has called on the Obama administration to pursue civil rights charges against George Zimmerman. The NAACP also tweeted out a petition urging the Justice Department to “open a civil rights case against George Zimmerman.”

Attorney General Eric Holder,” the petition reads, “The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida’s prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.”

“The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin,” the NAACP wrote. “We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.”

“Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today,” the NAACP wrote.

The colored people be uppity.

The jury made the right call. Good for them. They can sleep well tonight knowing they didn't railroad an innocent man based on trumped up accusations of racism.

I've stayed out of this argument this whole time for the most part but the one thing I keep hearing over and over.... a CHILD was killed.... a CHILD this... a CHILD that.... a 17 year old child.... blah blah blah....

Uhmmmm yeah... so guess how old I was when I was going through boot at Ft. Benning, Georgia? Oh yeah... 17.... Guess how many MEN/WOMEN who are 17 go into the military??... thousands upon thousands.... so.... apparently I was a 17 man who was old enough to go through a basic training learning the "spirit of the bayonet" and how to kill... kill....kill.....and could have been called out to Iraq or some other sh!thole to fight for this country, but this guy was a child who didn't know what he was doing, nor should have been culpable for his actions? Aright....

Justice definitely was not served today. Pretty sad that a kid is shot and killed, while walking home minding his own business, and nothing happens to the killer.

That said, the legal system isn't perfect, but its still the best system in the world.

I hope the family of Martin can find peace.

The jury usually gets it right. Those of us not influenced by the media's obsession knew it would be nearly impossible to prove anything.

Martin was a punk, acted like a punk, and got shot the way punks usually get shot. Justice was served. The biggest mistake was not shooting the punk sooner.

Black kids get killed everyday in this country. It's usually by other black kids so nobody cares until its a white guy who kills them.

True. And I'm not sitting here saying black people don't commit a disproportionate amount of crime, compared to other racial groups in America. It could be poverty, genetics, who knows. I'm not an expert on the subject. Like you said, it's usually against their own. I just think its silly that people try to say Martin wasn't profiled because of his race. All I know is Martin had no right to "stand his ground", but the guy with a gun apparently had a right to stand his.

White Hispanics," "Creepy-Ass Crackers," "Teenage Mammies," and "Suspicious A--holes who always get away" -- that is the vernacular of the George Zimmerman trial.

George Zimmerman faces life in jail as a jury considers second-degree murder charges against him for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. But thanks to the media he is already sentenced to life in the American public's mind as a racist.

NBC edited a tape of Zimmerman’s call to police as he was following Martin to make him appear to be focused on Martin’s race.

The New York Times has referred to him in unique racial terms as a “white Hispanic." The terminology was necessary to have the story fit into a well-worn news narrative throughout American history from the Scottsboro Boys to Emmett Till to Rodney King – the black victim of white racism. Hispanic people can be as racist as black or white people in a country with a deep history of racism. But, apparently for the Times, Zimmerman's whiteness was important. It fit their good versus evil tale of a white racist killing an innocent black man.

Whistle-blowing state official fired after testimony in Zimmerman trial

The special prosecutor appointed to the George Zimmerman case has sacked a whistle-blowing colleague who testified at the trial that the state attorney’s office failed to comply with the rules of discovery.

Ben Kruidbos, the state attorney’s office IT director, was reportedly fired in the wake of rendering testimony during a June 6 hearing that was potentially damaging to the prosecution regarding cell phone photos and text messages discovered on Trayvon Martin’s phone that were not furnished to defense attorneys.

All he had to do is keep walking but like a typical reactor, he reacted instead of thinking first, and got in the face of a dude that he didn't know. That dude had a gun. If he was a thinker, he would be alive today.

Obviously mobb deep knows something about the trial that no one else knows. The jury got it right. Stop trying to make a hero out of Martin. As stated above, he was a trouble making punk.

This is laughable. It's liking watching an episode of Seinfeld, where they feel obligated to say "not that there's anything wrong with it." Everyone on the defense side of this feels obligated to preface their statements with "beyond the obvious tragedy a young man lost his life". WTF??? The only tragedy is that this punk was being painted as a saint by the press, and idiots like Shapton stoked the fires of racism instead of accepting the fact that this kid was a punk.

Now that we're headed for the inevitable civil case, a lot more can be released. I hope they open the floodgates on TM. They're making him out to be a saint, but he was anything but that.

Coming here to take my lumps. I was wrong, the jury has spoken and Zimmerman is not guilty. I'm sure RP et al. are tickled pink over this.

I don't think it's necessary to slander the victim at this point though. You guys got your way, no need to try to take it even further.

BLS, IIRC I owe you some money from a bet we made. I wanna say a hundo, is that right? Any who PM me the details

You know other than my ridiculous reply to Penney's even more ridiculous post about her daughter being raped, I have stayed out of this thread. It's mostly been whiney b1tch slapping among political foes and very little about the title at hand.

But here's the middle line. THIS was not a fight. A fight is when two people argue and BOTH decide to get physical. When one person gets mad without any 'fighting words' being traded and gets physical with another and the other does not fight back immediately, it's called an assault.

Now the bottom line is when is it ok to use deadly force against an assault? I believe it's a fine line. And I also believe Zimmer had the right to do so based on his injuries. Who's to say the ass-whipping wouldn't have led to much worse injury even if NOT death.

But THIS is the question at hand - when is it ok to use deadly force against an assault without a weapon (gun, knife etc)?

Everything else in this trial was just fluff.

Am I right?

Lesson learned. Don't pick fights with a gun carrying a gun.

Justice prevailed this time.

You sure? I'd like to make good on it somehow. I'd say I'd take you out drinking but I may not be back in Minnesota for some time.

How about I send you a souvenir from my neck of the woods? I'll try to make it not suck
