Colin Kaepernick is a diick

Let's talk:

Does the actual distribution of police victims confirm the Black Lives Matter allegation that policing is lethally biased? That depends on the benchmark chosen for assessing police actions.

Typically, activists and the media measure police actions against population ratios. Given that blacks are 13 percent of the nation’s population, a 26 to 28 percent black share of police gun fatalities looks disproportionate. But policing should be measured against crime rates, not population percentages, because law enforcement today is data-driven. Officers are deployed to where people are most being victimized, and that is primarily in minority neighborhoods.

In America’s 75 largest counties, comprising most of the nation’s population, blacks constituted 62 percent of all robbery defendants in 2009, 57 percent of all murder defendants, and 45 percent of all assault defendants — but roughly 15 percent of the population in those counties. In New York, where blacks make up 23 percent of the city’s population, blacks commit three-quarters of all shootings and 70 percent of all robberies, according to victims and witnesses. (Whites, by contrast, commit less than 2 percent of all shootings in New York City and 4 percent of all robberies, though they are nearly 34 percent of the population.)

Yeah. And they are. Wasn't mentioned in previous cycles

Yes they're talking about it in the dumbest way imaginable. Credit Trump with people saying words though, I guess.

And if the police shootings that people have been protesting about involved a person with a gun or who was in the act of committing a crime, maybe this post would have relevance.

It is perfectly within a black person's rights to try and rip a cop's gun out of his hands.

Because, until you're successful doing that, you are unarmed.

It's basically self-defense.

Eric Garner - I can't breathe guy, unarmed

John Crawford - in Walmart looking at a toy bb gun

Michael Brown - unarmed not anywhere near police officer, jaywalking

Tamir Rice - in park playing with toy gun, police just shot him. they never gave him a second to put down his toy gun, to explain, nothing, just shot dead

Walter Scott - unarmed running away from police officer who shot him and tried to plant a gun on him

Freddie Gray - was apprehended because he ran from police, they did find that he was carrying a knife, died of spinal cord injury

Anthony Hill - air force vet was running around naked because he suffered from mental illness was shot and killed, once again, he was naked.

No one killed Jared Loughner after he shot Gabrielle Giffords in the head.

White men shoot up movie theaters and are safely arrested and brought to trial.

I watched a man bulldoze his neighborhood and police officers basically thought it was funny while arresting the guy.

Now, if white men fear the sight of black men that much, they need to stop being police officers. It's clearly not a career they should pursue.

Peenie, when you use Michael Brown as an example, you are only hurting your argument.

I'll cross off Michael Brown and replace it with plain clothes police officer on duty being shot by white police officers.

Or off duty black police officers being shot by white police officers.

Or Amadou Diallo shot when they told him to hold up his hands and he was shot when they mistook his wallet for a gun.

Or when they mistake a cell phone for a gun.

Instead of trying to prove black people are paranoid and statistically show how criminal blacks are and that we deserve to be shot, why not just say nothing?

The main point is you have folks who weren't compliant with officers.

Yes there are mistakes. Tamir rice was not a mistake but there are very few if any cases where a cop goes out and shoots someone just cause they are a certain skin color. It happens on occasion but when it does justice has been served. Also Freddie gray was an accident that could have happened to anyone. They didn't purposely hurt him or let him die

For everyone you list there are an equal number of whites Mexicans and Asians shot by police

If the culture as a whole would work to decrease crime maybe officers would t be so scared to deal with them. 13% of the population commit 51% of the violent crimes. That is not whities fault

Put on the NFL network and who do I see preaching about social justice ect? Jim Brown. Ray Rice wasn't available? The NFL is so full of it, and they and now their players are doing their best to turn people off.

Ray Rice never tried to kill anyone. Jim Brown on the other hand has. If he says he wants to go on TV and talk, you say yes sir, right away Mr. Brown.

Lol at naming all the victims. you know their names because it sells media clicks and ratings. If you had a list of white names shot by cops in this same timespace it would be too long to even get through. What a joke. BLM are the real racists here. Kaep should leave the country if its so terrible.

“You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids 'super predators,' you have Donald Trump who’s openly racist,”We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn't make sense to me because if that was any other person you’d be in prison. So, what is this country really standing for?”

Looks like BB wins in the statistics mode.

What pisses me off are those who compare Kap to Ali.

Um, anybody who thinks life is anywhere NEAR the same for blacks of today vs. Ali's time is an idiot.

And, Peenie - did I miss it, or did you even express any kind of general sadness or sympathy for the two white nuns who were killed by a black man? I'm not asking you to apologize for an entire race, but like I said, all this outrage over the statistically minimal killing of (largely resistant, criminal) black folks by cops, but "hey, boys will be boys" attitude toward black men killing each other and innocent, giving civilians is pretty telling.

I don't mind the protest I don't like protesting the end result of police shootings as the problem in Black America. If your only concern is what authorities do and you're going to nitpick every decision every use of force every procedure they do we are never going to get anywhere. What needs to happen is to get on the front end of the problems in the black community and these things have nothing to do with white people or police.

If Colin wants to help he can do it pretty easily. He should take 1 million dollars and devoted 2 local schools to help fix them up. This would help with the almost 50% Dropout rates in the black community. He should then take another million dollars and devote it to either a center or speak himself about single family homes that are destroying the black community at almost 70%. He should then take million and start up several businesses in poor communities to get these people jobs.

It would help educate, employ and teach young black men about the power of family. All of these would reduce crime and awful interactions with police and put money back into their communities.

You can't just focus on police actions because you can tweak a bunch of things but you still have a pipeline of dumbass kids who are uneducated not working and poor coming down the pipeline that you'll never stop

Shaq just came out and said the same thing I said when this first broke:

"What I want to know is why now?"

Shaq went on to say that Ali and others were consistent, but Kap stood happily for 3,4 years. And that 'social injustice' has been around a long time.

All very valid questions.

The only that changed now is that Kap doesn't want to sit the bench and now will have a built in excuse when he's cut.

Why do we give sh!t if he sits and why do we even want to know his reasons for doing so?

Football is not war, and has nothing to do with the government or the military.

Standing for the National Anthem is just a patriotic custom that most people observe at the beginning of each game.

I happen to like it, but I couldn't care less if a wash out 9er QB wants to sit in protest.

People really need to find some real problems to focus on.

This isn't one.
