Not even close to the same thing. First, this is not some sort of milestone that we want to honor with 100k deaths (although Jerry will be cutting a check for $50). It also isn't over.

This is a political stunt with no real value. If Pelosi and Schumer want to do something in memory of those who died, reach across the aisle with something that will help fund a vaccine or cure. Until then, they should probably STFU.

Lowering flags to half staff isn't that big of a deal. If Trump thinks it's a political stunt and wants to block it, he should simply do it. They aren't asking for a big grandiose ceremony. It's only political if Trump is a dumbass and plays into their hands.

When are you going to learn?  Pelosi is the best politician in Washington. Everyone knows Trump has moved on from this virus and is downplaying it.  He's in full campaign mode and needs to change the narrative.  Pelosi also knows that there's still over 20,000 new cases per day and 1500 people dying.  It's a great, noble thing to do.  Flying flags at half staff to commemorate all who have died.  And their families left behind.  If Trump says no,  it further verifies that he doesn't have an ounce of compassion and only cares about himself.

I think mortality is somewhere around .4-1.4% and the economy should mostly reopen except to help slow the spread down schools should remain closed until fall and that people who can work from home should work from home.

The reason I was gone for a little over a week is because we took a thousand mile road trip.

In the face of a novel virus threat, China clamped down on its citizens. Academics used faulty information to build faulty models. Leaders relied on these faulty models. Dissenting views were suppressed. The media flamed fears and the world panicked.

That is the story of what may eventually be known as one of the biggest medical and economic blunders of all time. The collective failure of every Western nation, except one, to question groupthink will surely be studied by economists, doctors, and psychologists for decades to come.
