Your Covid Story— survivors check in

Recommended Posts

Not a vax/non-vax thread.  Do what you want.  I’m vaxxed but tested positive today.

If you had it, check in.  Was it bad?  Last long?  Mild?  Any weird symptoms?

For me, this went from 0-60 in 6 hours.  No symptoms yesterday when I awoke and then felt like heck by 2:00.  Weird thing— my quads feel like I climbed 100 flights of stairs.

I don't know if I had it. Don't really care about it myself. I just kind of hope people keep being scared of it so I don't have to go back to flying to other cities for work 49 weeks a year.

Still going through it.  Hit me hard on Thursday night IIRC.  Thurs-Sat were pretty brutal, basically laid out on the bed.  Took the Covid test Saturday to verify whether it was just a really bad cold/flu or Covid and came up positive for Covid.  Feeling a bit better the last couple of days but nowhere near healthy and tested positive again today for Covid.  Gonna check with my Doctor tomorrow to see if he thinks I should be seeking any additional treatment beyond just cold meds or if I should just wait it out.

Good luck man, I hear stuff like this and lean towards the booster.

Good luck my man. You’ll be fine but I’ve heard it sucks for some people.

Pretty sure I was the first GC member to survive.  I'm basically Superman.  May 2020. Fock COVID!!!!

I had really mild symptoms. Felt exhausted for about 36 hours and had minor body aches. No cough, fever, or other cold symptoms. Never would have gotten tested if it weren’t for the loss of sense of smell/taste. I texted my buddy who is an ER doc and he told me that was one of the primary symptoms of COVID. I hadn’t even heard that…got tested and sure as sh1t, I was contaminated.

I got my smell/taste back after about 5 days.

Double vaxxed with Chinese vaccines of dubious quality and never had COVID. The Chinese never let up and still maintain a full lockdown, no-tolerance policy towards the disease and go apesh*t whenever cases arise. Six days ago they locked down 13 Million people in Xi'an because they detected a hundred cases or so there.

had it march 2021. id say it was equivalent of a mild flu for me. 2 days of fever, then headache and sore throat follow by it trying to get into lungs (one night of bad coughing hackinng) but fought off pretty quick. i think headache was worst symptom for me. if it wasnt covid i think i would  have went back to work in 4 days. also i lost taste and smell for month or so AFTER i was better.

kinda paranoid i have again right now. a bajillion people i know are positive. and i feel a little off😬

How many other morbidities?

2x survivor here. TGF testing,  otherwise I might never have known I had it. Both times I considered racing to the emergency room to save my life, but had other things to do. I nearly went through several tissues with Omicron.

Unvaxed 33 years old.

Had it 4 weeks ago.  Mild headache for 3 or 4 days consistantly.  Temp around 100 for 3 or 4 days.  Drank 1 night middle of quarantine.  Shoveled 8 inches of snow one morning during quarantine.

Double vaxxed (Moderna) in Jan/Feb. in October I lost taste for 3-4 days, but felt ok otherwise. I scheduled a Covid test, but when my taste came back the day before my test I cancelled.
Two weeks later I was curious if I had it so I paid $30-40 for an antibody test at CVS. Based on the results and amount of antibodies present, I had just gotten over it recently.

I got it a year ago at the beginning of November.  Felt like regular cold symptoms at first.  My brother-in-law tested positive and since I was around him I went to get test and it came back positive.  The first two nights I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat but never had a fever and didn't really feel that bad.  For about 10 days I had symptoms and they varied each day.  It was usually just a stuffed up head and it would hurt occasionally.  Some days I would feel perfectly fine and would even have a few beers.  One day my brother-in-law and I went fishing.

There were two symptoms that were different from how I felt from a normal cold, I would run out of breath easily and I was exhausted the first week.  Overall, it wasn't a big deal and didn't have any long term side effects.  No loss of taste or smell.  I have not been vaccinated either.

First time, I never knew I had it.  Before getting the vaccine, my office did a check on us to see if we had the antibodies and I did.   After getting vaccinated, I got it a couple other times apparently because I've test positive for it 3 times between May 2020 and October 2021.  Last month, I cold-like symptoms and tested positive again for it.

Got a third stent put in on October 7th and on the 13th early evening felt like I got hit by a truck.I was non vaxxed and symptoms were all over the place, throbbing headache,no taste or smell, weak and tired, sore throat and diarrhea.Got so bad that six days later I was sweating profusely and passed out and mrs nzoner called ambulance.I was given the infusion and sent home and was better in a few days.Unfortunately mrs nzoner who was vaxxed but had severe RA then got it and after a long six week battle (including a tracheotomy) passed on December 8th.

It would be over with if these idiots would quirt running for a test the minute they sneeze.

No idea if I ever had it. Probably did while in LV in Nov 209220 as Tinnitus arrived a moth or 2 later. Tinnitus affects 15% of covid patients.

Never tested. No need to and i have 2 treated comorbidities but I've been popping Vit. C, D3, Zinc & Quercetin since almost day 1.

December last year. I really didn't want to get tested because I'm pretty tinfoil hat, but someone who needed to have important meetings and see lots of people was decently exposed to me within a theoretically contagious zone, so I took a rapid antigen test. That person fortunately didn't get it.

It was like having a moderate cold. I had lost taste/smell with past colds, but for maybe two days max. The one thing that set this apart was losing it for 8 days.

8 hours before becoming symptomatic, I was with my progressive (absolutely defer to state and media-favored experts) friend (we were dating at the time) and he didn't get it from me, which was impressive and cool.

yea what is the purpose of testing at this point?

I am the poster child for get vaccinated and boosted, but I can't figure out the value of a test, unless someone is not vaccinated, and thinks they may need to go to the hospital.

Jim Cramer was double vaccinated and boosted. He got tested going into an event like everybody else. The guy sitting across from him. went positive sitting there, and gave it to Jim. Do we need to get tested three times a day, everyday?  Maybe they will make those little plastic things we can stick on the back of our arms like they do for blood sugar. They could beep when we go positive. Who knows.

Anyway, things are a lot better than the early days of the pandemic, before there were vaccines. I met a lady whose sister got it at work and died. It was a 5 person office. Someone knew they had it, but came to work anyway. All 5 died.

Not being snarky...if this is true, I'm guessing all 5 were overweight and put on ventilators prematurely.

I’m getting tested in the morning as two guys I played golf with the day after Christmas just texted they are both Covid Positive with symptoms.

Fock.  I’m not all that worried for me, just pissed.  Work - Family - having to deal with all the BS.

I wouldn’t bother getting tested unless I had symptoms

The ONLY time I got tested when it wasn't required (for work), was when I didn't feel well ahead of visiting someone who is high risk.

ive never had covid.  although i did change my habits when it broke and use mouthwash a lot now.  dunno if that works or not.   a couple of times i started getting a scratchy throat, used mouthwash, and the mouthwash nuked it from space in like an hour.

No need for snark, that legend is as urban as crocodiles in the NY sewer and less believable.

I suggest aggressive treatment as early as possible.  You don't want the Covid taking over your lungs.

Doc describing medical worker's fear of using lower risk (to patient) oxygen therapies because of potential risk to them

The concern of overusing ventilators started to be voiced pretty early on. I remember it being expressed somewhat intimately before it became a solid topic of focus with armchair critics.

My wife (36C) got it early on. Like December 2019. She had flu like symptoms and trouble breathing. She said it felt like an elephant was sitting on her chest. It lasted for about a week.

A few days later I felt like I was coming down with something. Felt that way for a couple of days then it went away.

Now we don't have to worry because we have natural immunity.  So we have that going for us, which is nice.
