Student Loan “forgiveness”

Recommended Posts

If this becomes reality, I’m going to be so pissed off that I won’t be able to see straight.

I paid my way thru college with loans and jobs and then repaid $30k over twenty years.  Everyone else can do the same.

It is for Libs who spent 6 years in college getting some foo foo degree.  Who are now in debt and make 20 an hour.

The people I know who complain about student debt are raging Libs.  Conservative friends and family still have some debt but are on track to paying it off and not complaining about paying for something they signed up for.

They should give inflation checks before they give student loan forgiveness.   No one can control the governement installed inflation.   You can control if or where you go to college and how much debt you are willing to rack up.

Wife and I are using current income and savings to pay for our eldest sons college.  We are paying as he goes without taking loans.  How do I sign for my refund?

It should be criminal to tax the productive to give the money to the irresponsible to buy their votes.  This is not Biden's money to do with as he pleases.  It is not the Feds money.  The feds have no money which is not ours.  The Feds produce nothing, they earn nothing, they only take.  How dare they take from me when I had to pay my loans, when I had to make responsible decisions, and give it to the irresponsible?

Take a home equity loan to finance college?  You are fvcked

Use funds from a Roth IRA or 529 to finance college?  You are fvcked

Pay cash or use savings to finance college?  You are fvcked

The president has said he would make a decision by Aug. 31. Biden faces increasing pressure from progressive Democrats to cancel an even larger share of debt for Americans who took federal loans to pay for college.

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

debt forgiveness was used in the middle ages to fix the economy.  it was performed by the Catholic Church back then and the term used was "jubilee".

they could be planning regular debt forgiveness events in the future to ward off recessions, who knows.  they could expand this from college debt to all debt.

Might as well forgive my mortgage then.

The Democrats love to have the taxpayers pay for their election propaganda.

If you vote Democrat you are just plain stupid.

The word is he's forgiving 10k per person. I have no idea who that is supposed to help. The people who have 10k or less of student loan debt more than likely aren't struggling. Those who have massive student loan debt, 10k is a drop in the bucket.

Now personally, this is absolute bullshlt. I paid my loans back as soon as I possibly could. It wasn't easy and I really struggled early on but, got it knocked out. Slap in the face to the folks who handled the situation responsibly.

As much as I hate to say this, wipe it all, or not any. This feels like a worthless gesture.

I would only be for this if they required the recipients of this largess to tatoo, prominently, on their forheads the word "deadbeat" by way of warning society they cannot be trusted to live up to their financial agreements.  Don't want the tatoo, don't take the deal.

Make blue collar workers who never went to college pay for the people who took out loans to get four art degrees. Could there be any worse entitled narcissist lib thinking than that.

I'm pretty confident that liberals who have paid off their loans are also against this.  I think the majority of people who have paid them off or never had them are completely against this.  I would much prefer that they change how these loans are done, lower interest rates or something.

It is never about actually helping, this is purely trying to buy votes.

Almost a great post, just remove that last line and we are good.

Yep I have no problem changing he interest rate. It’s a govt load which means it’s our loan. Put a 1% interest on loans going forward and I’m fine with it

When Clinton made it easier for everyone to get a college loan he essentially told the colleges to go ahead and raise tuition as high as they want. That's exactly what happened. If the government forgives loans you're gonna see tuition go up even faster.

Fix that first.

I had my daughter take out some loans, only $5k per year, so she has some skin in the game, and also because Biden started talking about this last year.  I told her I'll help her pay them off when she graduates, or maybe Biden just makes them disappear.

My daughter is a college freshman.  If this goes thru, you bet your @ss she’ll be taking out $10k in student loans next year.

I’ve sacrificed for 18 years putting my money in a 529 so this is all paid for.  I oppose forgiveness 100%, but there is no way I will pay into this BS and get nothing from it!

Is this a one shot deal, for existing loans?  The devil will be in the details. If it’s not expect a flurry of loan applications.

So colleges got free money from the government with no guarantee to educate.  Can't imagine anyone would be for this except corrupt progressives.

Why aren’t  the Democrats fixing this problem rather than throwing money at it?

The simple solution is to make the colleges guarantee these loans not the American taxpayer.

Do we need a solution?  The colleges grifted the student into taking a loan.  It's between them.

Just another reason why I always say that the only way to fix the government to have the people who vote for politicians, pay for the bills they pass.

We did similar; my daughter needed an extra year to finish up her tech degree.  We saw the writing on the wall and had her take out a loan; under $10K because it is in state.  She graduated, has a high paying job, could easily pay off the loan, and she is now cha-CHING!  Great job Biden$#@!

I'm completely against this crapass idea. I started working at 15 to save money for college, worked my way through college and paid off the loans I had to get. Fock this.

I'm sure that's the purpose of it but that doesn't mean all liberals agree with it.  I think the majority of people who have paid of their loans, regardless of their political affiliation, do not agree with forgiving loans.

If it is not popular with their party/voters they wouldn't be doing it.  Trust me, you should have learned this by now.

It was turned into s PF for votes, can be done with any topic. The government focked this whole business up from the get go.

Instead of forgiving these loans that people took out WILLINGLY I might add, they just need to make the interest rate 1% and that would fix majority of the problems related to student loans
