Last time I “fished” was at a dude ranch in the mountains and we “fished” in a pond with hot dogs as bait. Kids didn’t know any better. 
As a teenager though we fished all the time. I was actually a guest a few times in the Sheepheads Bay Fishing Club. And I was the youngest on board by 40 years

If it was a tournament with many different types of fishing I would like my chances, i have of course spent a very significant amount of time trout fishing(both fly fishing and using spinners) however I could hold my own ice fishing, bass fishing, walleye fishing, offshore fishing, inshore fishing, and surf fishing.

So I'm just going to go another way here. I'm probably the worst fisherman on this board. Then I would go fishing with Dad. . And that's one of the few things we could do together.

 

Look, I can put a hook on a line. But just listening to some of the guys here on the board? You guys are about 10,000 years ahead of me. And living down in texas? There are 12 year olds who know how a lot more about fishing than I do.

 

I was lucky enough to date a really gorgeous girl. God, she was great. And her family was incredibly cool.  And her dad and brothers just embraced the hell out of the fact that I mentioned fishing with my dad. God bless them. But jeebus. I think there's a few fish who jumped on my line just out of pity.

 

Bert was around when one fish committed suicide in his stock pond for me.

 

Reading some of your comments, you guys are head & shoulders above me. And that's fine.

 

For me? It was corned beef hash and eggs on cast iron with my dad at 4:00 in the morning. And either spam or sardine sandwiches packed up for lunch hours later. And then on the way home on i-70? He'd pick up a six pack and he'd buy me a couple of Vernors maple soda pop.

 

We usually reel in a few. Usually nothing more than power bait or salmon eggs. Enough to make dinner. But God damn, I miss those times.

 

F****** winter allergies.

And yeah, I did a couple fishing trips in texas. They'd make a f****** beeline for the nearest oil rig. Well that's f****** pleasant. It's like fishing at 7-eleven. Screw that. 

 

I love you guys. No kidding. Longest relationship I've ever had.

Been a messed up week for me too. Speaking about dads and fishing - I remember my dad who died almost 40 years ago took me fishing at 4:00 AM on a reef under the Throgs Neck bridge in Whitestone NY. WTF was he thinking ?? Wasn’t going to catch anything there and the reef was infested with rats. Worst day fishing ever.

That’s all I know. I vaguely remember fishing in a stream in upstate NY but that had to be 40+ years ago.
