Great deal. He’s 300% better than Danny Dimes and only making 25% more.

Holy hell...  No wonder ticket prices will never go down again...

Good for him that he can what he can...

I crack up when people freak out when a QB becomes the new highest paid.  They think it is on total merit and not timing.

Good for him.  The young man made his money. Hope he enjoys the team they can now afford to put around him.

The best OL in the NFL will no longer be in Philly. They won't be able to afford that anymore and the real j. hurts will be exposed.

Balt observed what happens when the top of the line OL leaves. Your running QB gets hurt. Thus they are trying not to make the same mistake.

Inevitable, and this will surely be the demise of the team.  We'll see if he's able to carry the team once the talent around him diminishes.

Won’t be good for the team but you gotta pay premier players at QB. The earlier you lock em up the more it does save later I suppose.

He's about the only really good qb in the nfc, so they should be fine.

It is just tough giving the bag to a QB who you ask to run a ton.  Hurts is built like a garbage can so I can see him being more durable than most.  But like I always say with running QBs.  They don't have to even get hurt and out of the game. If they just roll an ankle they suddenly become obsolete.   A guy like Rodgers at his best was moving within pocket and throwing on the run. But when hurt he could operate well enough from thr pocket.  Mahomes last season.  Not saying Hurts can't throw.  But he is largely effective by bulldozing for first downs.  And making a play outside the pocket.

A guy like Lamar rolls an ankle and he is seriously obsolete even if can stay in the game.

Congrats, it’s going to be hard to build a contender with one player getting most of the money.

Kyler Murray is a great example to back this up.

I’ve said it over and over - QBs are gonna get paid, period……….. As owners make more and more billions, as Caps go up, QBs will continue to get paid, it’s just the way it is.

Your best bet is to hit and win a SB under a rookie deal, after that - you know what’s coming.

Why is everyone laughing at this?   Not just me claiming as much. He's competing against Jared Goff, Geneo Smith and Dak.

And this is why they don't want to pay their own QB that much. Philly had their run and lost. Now they just promised themself more losing.

Did anyone see if he was pushed over the dotted line?

I’m not worried about the OL. Jeff Stoutland turns guys like Kelce (6th Rd.) and Jordan Mailata (7) into Pro Bowlers and Philly prioritizes the trenches. Unlike Dallas and New York, who spend top 5 picks on RBs.

As the top Giants fan around here who’s loyalty could never be in question, it’s going to be a tough road for the next few years. We better build our D.

This guy won't last 2 years, much less 5.

Maybe an NFL teams needs to lose a huge amount of money to realize that running quarterbacks are not what you want at the quarterback position.

There's a reason they always run and it's because they can't pass.

+1

The way GM's and teams allocate their assets really doesn't make sense. I get that QB's are the most important player on the team, but worth a 20-25%  cap hit, nope.  Chiefs pulled it off last year with Mahomes at 35M(total cap 208M), that's 16%.  I don't think a team can go higher than that.

At QB  Danny Dimes = Dak,  DD > Wash QB,  DD < Hurts.  But I agree with that Eternal guy that Hurts won't hold up.  Barely made it through last year.

Yep, and the league adapts fast.  Eagles going back to around a .500 club again.

Beginning of the end, that's just how these things go when you pay that much of the pie to average talent.

I like Hurts but, not for that much $$.

It's not a bad contract at all and you'll see why soon. Josh Allen & Burrow are about to make that look like chicken scratch. It's all relative

Bijan Robinson will be an Eagles now.

I stand by my post.  QBs who can pass don't run 17 times for 157 yards.

He's a QB first and an opportunist when it comes to running. If it's there he'll take it, and why not? Unless it's a designed run, he rarely looks to run first. That's not him.

I disagree.  If he's not a running QB he wouldn't run 17 times for 157 yards.  If he did that one time, I might agree with you, but his rushing numbers are better than 70% of the RBs in the league.  That's not opportunity, that's running because that's your first instinct.  And if your FIRST instinct as a QB is to run, then you're a running quarterback.

He had the 4th highest pff passing grade in the league last year.

17 for 157 is 9+ yards a carry??? He obviously seen something. That's opportunistic.

If he had 3.5 yards a carry I'd certainly agree. He's great at reading defenses and schemes.
