Best tasting beer?

Recommended Posts

Ok, i am about to turn 19 and i will be going to Canada to legally drink for the first time. Now, i want my first legal beer to be the best tasting beer i have ever tasted. Keep in mind i am use to drinking cheap ass Busch lite and even keystone lite, i am use to pretty much tasting cat piss for beer. That is why i would like to see if there is beer out that that actually doesn't taste like cat piss, i would like to believe. Price is not a factor at all, and i am going to Winsor so i am sure they will have some good shat.

I have heard nothing beats a good ol Budweiser, however many say Labots Blue, Heinekin, Sam Adams, and so on are the best tasting. I figured most of you out there can help me out with this. Please make me believe, please....

It's Labatt Blue and it's very good.

If you're just talking about the types o beer you'd normally find at a club then mebe try a Killians Red or Sam Adams lager.(on tap preferably)

:)

I dun like the pisslike beers either so I prefer em dark. Guinness not so much except for the extra stout. The best I've had

in a long time was the Sam Adams Oktoberfest but you won't find that.

Only good thing to come out of Michigan.

Great summer bear for sure.

As for the question. It depends what you like.

Heavier or light.

Dark, pale, red, nut brown, wheat, belgian.....

There are so many types of beers and styles that it is hard to say what is the best flavor.

I don't have any one favorite.

The Bells is a good summer wheat beer. Light and crisp. Great on a warm day. Probably my favorite all around beer.

But if I want a dark beer...Guinness never disappoints.

Labatts Blue is a very good lager.

Again...just depends on your taste and what you are looking for....this time of year...cannot go wrong with a Bell's Oberon or similar style.

Not sure all what Canada would have...but look for a Hefe Weizen (pretty much the same as an American Wheat Beer which the Oberon is)

Unfortunately you have to establish your beer palette before you can appreciate the "best beers".

If I recommended some excellent beers right now- you would probably think they were awful and it would be a waste of money.

Get used to specific styles of beer and how they taste different. Then start to look for better quality beers within the styles you enjoy.

Exactly. My favorite is Samuel Smith's (just about anything; I'll go with Nut Brown) but it would be lost on him. I'd recommend something like Fat Tire from New Belgium, which introduces him to better beers without ranging too far from the cat piss he is used to.

First 2 years of college I was about 30 minutes from the Canadian border. Those beers pack a punch. 5%+ ;)

Great summer bear for sure.

The trip to the brewery in Kalamazoo is well worth the effort as well, especially during the summer. Out in the yard they have summer concerts and it's quite a party loaded with college chicks. Oh....the good ole days. Now, I'm a dirty dirty voyeuristic old man. ;)

In Canada, I liked Labatt's Blue Light.

For summer, I am partial to Pete's Wicked Summer or Sam Adams' Summer.

Regular drinking - Shiner Bock

Lighter high quantity drinking - Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light (I drink all of these as well)

When I was vacationing in North Carolina last year, I discovered the greatest tasting beer I've ever had....

Rasputin's Russian Imperial Stout

It's a dark beer served cold in a frosty mug. Hands down the best dark beer I've ever had. Unfortunately, nobody in Florida sells it. The closest immitation we have is Guiness Stout. The next time I'm in North Carolina I'll be loading up with a few cases to bring home.

I guess it's the kids' fault for asking a silly question to start the thread then asking something different inside.

19yr old going to windsor

going to places where he can drink

hates piss-lite beer

what should he order?

I doubt they have the Busy Bee Gremlin Fockers Brew that youare all recommending.

Here are some of my favorite beers from Europe:

Denmark: Tuborg; Carlsberg (you probably won't find Tuborg, but Carlsberg should be no problem) (both are pilsners)

Germany: Franzeskaner (my favorite Wheat Beer), almost any other german Hefeweizen

Scotland: Tenants Lager

Czech Republic: Pilsner Urquell; the original Budweiser

Italian: Moretti; Peroni

The first 3 (after Tuborg which I cannot find in the US) are what I keep at home. The rest I will buy when I'm out if I cannot find these 3.

Its local around here but defiantly Old Style, and I hate the Cubs...go figure.

When an "establishment" doesn't carry it or sold out, I go for Guinness (on tap only)

Great post!

Since you'll be in Windsor, you should start educating yourself with Canadian brews!

Labatt Blue is GREAT!

Molson XXX is potent - it'll get you drunk!

Alexander Keith's is really good as well.

Expand upon other Canadian brands and see what you like.

But, more importantly, since you'll be in Windsor, go to The Million Dollar Saloon and Cheetahs - Trust me.
