Djgb13 2,338 Posted June 20, 2018 You find one in the rough somewhere or randomly while youre out. Do you take it and reuse it? (I find a lot in this field I take my dogs to so they can run and collect them to just hit around)
dain11279 928 Posted June 20, 2018 Hell yes, especially if it's a decent ball and it's in good shape. Golf balls ain't cheap
Sho Nuff 719 Posted June 20, 2018 Depends what it is and condition. If it looks pretty new and is a good ball...yeah, why not. If its andecent ball but not great I put it with the shag balls I keep in my bad to hit in the open area across from my house.
Drizzay 646 Posted June 20, 2018 If they look like they've only been hit once or twice, yes. All others, I keep as range balls. Any sort of massive scuff or slice, I don't even pick up.
Cruzer 1,992 Posted June 20, 2018 If it's one I use and in good shape, sure... If it's a good Pro V or something, I'll give it to a buddy in the group.

parrot 789 Posted June 20, 2018 Hell yes. Unless they're complete sh!t, I either play with them, use them for practice balls, or throw them in the range ball bin at our course. My buddy works at an exclusive private course that he gets us on a few times a season. It's the kind of place where the members don't even look for balls off the playing area. I usually pick up around a dozen balls or more a round. A few more years of playing there and I hope to never buy another golf ball.
LOD01 191 Posted June 20, 2018 Hell yeah. All my pro V1s are found. Usually everyone I find, I keep. However, in the flood last week at the course up in Ohio, so many golf balls littered #1, # 18 and # 11 that we were picking them up, checking the brand and tossing the garbage. The flood pushed them right out of the creek running through the woods onto the fairway.
supermike80 1,286 Posted June 20, 2018 Hells yeah. A pro V is a $4 ball. So I'm gonna reuse it if it is in good shape.

nospk 230 Posted June 20, 2018 A few years ago a good friend of mine found a ladies ball while we were playing. He decided to use it in that round and proceeded to get a hole in one with it. He hit the shot about 25 yards short of the green but it hit a cart path that was made of rocks, not paved. It took an incredibly high bounce off the rocks, went right on the green & rolled in the hole. Pure luck shot but we credited it to the lucky found ball.

If its andecent ball but not great I put it with the shag balls I keep in my bad to hit in the open area across from my house. Same here. Decent to good, I use. Anything else, I still grab and bring home. I use those in the back yard and smack'em in the woods.
DankNuggs 305 Posted June 20, 2018 Depends on the shape. Real rounds I use new balls, and then they accumulate in the bag. If Im messing around Ill game a lightly used ball. Once they are scuffed up they go to my shag bag for my backyard where I have a net set up. I tend to walk/carry so Im always trying to keep the bag light. If I dont pay attention Ill have 5lbs of extra balls in the bottom of the bag
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted June 20, 2018 If it is a decent ball that I use, then I keep it and play it. If it is a lesser ball, I have a friend who plays rocks like Pinnacles, so I give them to him. If it is half decent, I give it to my son. If it is total crap, I chuck it in the woods. Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted June 20, 2018 I stopped using them except hitting a 2nd ball. I'm sticking with Taylormade Project a new ones. I'm barely losing them these days.

TD Ryan2 314 Posted June 20, 2018 Short Answer: Yes Long answer: No, not often I don't pick up a ball that's not mine unless it's in the woods or way out of play If my ball goes in the woods or way out of play, I don't want to waste time looking - so I rarely find mine or any lost ball Bottom Line: I'm not here to look for golf balls, I'm here to hit them and move along So, while I'm not against finding/using someone else's lost ball... it better be a "lost" ball and you better not be spending more time looking for lost balls than hitting your own... AND if you take out that extendable ball retriever, I'm gonna' jam it up your ass. EDIT: and even if I do find a lost ball, I probably won't use it that same day - I try to use the same type/brand ball for a round, that way I never have to think about what I hit if someone asks. the s is ilent 69 Posted June 20, 2018 My buddy buys used prov1s online. Gets almost 100 (8 dozen) for around a hundo. He usually waits for a special ang gets a couple free gloves. I get two dozen from him for $25 and we run out about the same time. We get one grade down from premium meaning a few slight imperfections. The balls may have small scuffs or old sharpie stains from the previous owner. Occasionally I get a dud or dead ball that doesn't fell right and send it straight to the shag bag. I think he said they're not sold over 3 yrs old. Dunno. Premium balls for a dollar ea.
SenatorRock 708 Posted June 20, 2018 , half the balls in my bag have stripes on them. I pick up every ball I find and play it until it lands in the middle of the pond on the par 3 hole 8.
Cloaca du jour 2,064 Posted June 20, 2018 Since 1980 clubs and balls are advertised 10 percent longer every year. We should be hitting the ball 2 miles by now.

True...I take a peak in a light woods if I know mine trickle in. I don't go searching for them. My father in law drives me nuts looking for balls and getting the retriever out and pulling them from water hazards.
GobbleDog 816 Posted June 20, 2018 Two friends go golfing and one of them shows up with just 1 golf ball. His buddy says "1 golf ball? Aren't you afraid you're going to lose it?" The man says "It's impossible to lose this ball! If ya hit in the water - it floats. Hit in the woods - it has gps. Hit it in the dark - it glows!" Friend says "That's amazing!!! Where did ya get it?" Man says "I found it."
WhiteWonder 2,172 Posted June 20, 2018 I only search for my ball of I think it should be easily findable or if it's big money. I also dn't go out of my way to look for random balls (insert joke here) but I tend to find tons in the regular rough thay don't belong to anyone on neighboring holes. If its a rock, I'll just leave it. But I'll pick up any halfway decent ball and either play it or put it in my shag bag.
trumpurethra 42 Posted June 20, 2018 LOL half the time I'm so drunk I play the ball I find because I can't find mine.
trumpurethra 42 Posted June 20, 2018 A better golf question.... If someone hits a ball close to you do you hit it back at them? I do every damn time.

You can play a new ball that will give you better performance than that used Pro V1
