A spokesman for the first-term senator from Pennsylvania, who suffered a near-fatal stroke last year, said his depression had grown severe in recent weeks, as he has worked to adjust to life in the Senate.

WASHINGTON — Senator John Fetterman, Democrat of Pennsylvania, who was hospitalized last week after feeling lightheaded, checked himself in to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Wednesday night to receive treatment for clinical depression, his office said on Thursday.

Disgusting that he is in the same space we send our military heroes.

Perhaps.  What is just sad is how they propped this poor guy up, trotted him out solely for political power....they used him when he really needed some rest and recovery.....

Anyone could have seen this coming.  This poor guy needs some time to recover......jesus....

Was forced to keep running even at the risk of his long term health.  Last couple of debates and interviews he was basically a vegetable.  Felt bad for him.

After seeing my mom suffer from a few strokes over the last couple of years, there is a LOT of recovery that is needed afterwards. Everything can be affected, and depression is a BIG one.

I am surprised that he ran, honestly. I wonder if someone told him he "needed" to. It's too bad his family wasn't looking out for him and told him to not run, to recover properly.

He should resign and seek the long term medical help needed. It's pretty apparent he's medically unfit.

A national embarrassment that everyone saw coming.

This is obviously the proper thing to do. The folks who defended his candidacy, made excuses and voted for him have to be extremely embarrassed.

Was gonna say too bad Fetterman isn’t in the House or else we could probably just trade each of them for the other party

I'll take Fetterman in the hospital over that quack Dr. Oz any day.  That being said, Fetterman needs to worry more about his health than his career at this point.  He should take a temporary leave.

Of course you would. Agenda is all that matters. People loved oz til he ran as a republican. Sounds like another former president

I have a relative who recently had a stroke. He's at Craig hospital. Which is just an amazing place. I used to volunteer there. That's where Willie shoemaker and Christopher Reeve both received treatment.  That place is the best in the world.

And yeah, a psychiatrist sits with him damn near every day.

I hope Fetterman gets treatment like that. I hope they finally cleaned house at Walter Reed.

Looking at this thread you can see the exact person or two who sit and watch FOX News all day long because they just spouted the talking points.

What is incorrect? Or are you just whiney and don't have a point? As usual.

And how would you know what Fox news says unless you watch them?

What's the Fox News talking points? He honestly should step aside for his own well being. He obviously is having pretty severe complications from his stroke. I have nothing against the guy. I don't live in Pennsylvania so I have no vested interest in who or who didn't vote for him. He's a youngish guy. He should be putting his health and family first imo.

And what are those, exactly?

I said all along that (just a little bit more than) 1/2 of PA was happy putting a comatose body into the Senate, with some aide to wipe his drool and lift is arm to push the appropriate sycophant vote button.  The fact that he was facing significant physical and, now it seems, mental challenges was just collateral damage to the cause.

Democrats: the party that cares about people.

Said no one, EVER.

I mean, it's not even debatable.  They care about money and power.  That's it.

OR, Oz was such an overwhelmingly inept candidate that PA voters felt like they had no choice. Sound familiar? It should...

You sound like a liberal trying to defend a stupid vote. Or many of them over the years.

Serious question:

What happens to his senate seat if Fetterman ends up in a funny farm or offs himself due to his clinical depression?

Does PA hold a special election to replace him?

They, and the Party, had choices.  You just described one, Machiavelli.

How do you explain Fetterman and Biden getting elected? I know, it's all the liberals fault, right? Stupid fukin libs can't even elect people that are healthy and talk straight. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with a GOP that runs candidates that make Biden and Fetterman seem appealing in comparison.

I haven't really had the pleasure of interacting with you during my couple of years here. Now I see what I've been missing out on. Just another one of the bored conservatives around here, huh? You guys are eerily immune to facts, evidence, and introspection. But hey, it's your right to be that way, so enjoy!

Ballot harvesting, voter intimidation, a focus on low information and low IQ voters, a misinformation machine, and a powerful network of media groups hell bent on suppressing the truth.

Nobody with any sense is voting for a Fetterman or Biden.
