Father in ICU

Recommended Posts

My father had a mild stroke about 3 weeks ago. Fluid in lungs, a few blood clots and a mass.

was doing better until Saturday night (was in a different unit for a couple weeks), but they readmitted him Sunday morning.  Mother called me and I shot down.  More stable but has a tube to breath.  He was very sedated yesterday and a quite a bit today… but more responsive. Episode last night, but treated quickly.

😢

Prayers for your family.  I guess the good news is it sounds like things that are treatable and he can recover from, but most certainly very scary.  Best wishes for a full recovery.

I’m guessing (Hoping) they are local to you so you can be there for both of them.

Yes…. They are still in the house I grew up in.

Dad had a brief episode last night. Treated quickly. Related to potassium and electrolyte levels.

Still very sedated but can answer yes or no questions with a thumbs up and head shakes

Doing a little better with % reliance on the machine and intensity of air flow.

They will test again tomorrow to see how he does w/out the machine

It's tough because he was progressing well until Saturday evening

So we want to see some stabilization... basic respiratory functioning, reduction of fluid build up, then how to properly monitor and prevent this from recurring
