southcarolina 166 Posted January 2, 2016 Is anyone watching The Expanse? Any good? I have the season recorded, but haven't watched yet. Ive watched the first 4 episodes. Its pretty good. I think its got a lot of potential. In some ways its a lot like GOT, lots of characters, lots of settings. Its a show that viewers are probably going to have to be patient with while everything gets laid out.

Herbivore 1,155 Posted January 2, 2016 Just started the Man on High Castle, its ok. Jessica Jones, not very good, and she is a bad actress. The wife is watching The Affair, decent idea, but just all over the place.

RaiderHaters Revenge 4,456 Posted January 2, 2016 The Man in High Castle (love where this alternate history genre might lead, its certainly an untapped market) only thru 4 episodes The Walking Dead cause I just want to see how it ends at this point Vikings not watching but waiting for next season going to check out next Making a Murderer then will get caught up on Blacklist, Scorpion, Castle I cancelled cable, so I need to constantly be reminding myself of which shows I used to watch/like
southcarolina 166 Posted January 4, 2016 How is Gotham, the Flash, and Arrow? I've been meaning to watch them but I've been busy and haven't gotten around to it. Same with Supergirl I like all three. Gotham i think for a network show is really good. Its my favorite of the three I like Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, , and the ex-military badass Alfred the butler (played by Sean Pertwee) is a new twist. The show is dark and gritty and is not a feel good storybook show. Lots of people killed. There are no superpowers in this show. Victor Zzaz is an incredible shot with his gun, a teenage Catwoman is incredibly agile, but no one shoots lightning bolts from their eyes or fireballs from their fingers. No choreographed fight scenes or long car chases. Its really more like a hardcore Law and Order with a Batman slant. . There are tons of Batman references to be sure, but Jim Gordon is the central character, and the main story is his one man crusade against the corruption that permeates the entirety of Gotham Arrow is also pretty dark and gritty. In the first season Arrow is actually a vigilante who kills some of the bad guys he catches. The show starts kind of slow, and takes maybe half the first season to find its stride. Main characters die. There are superpowers on this show but they are by and large limited to extra strength/agility given by infusions of a drug, sort of a super steroids thing. (except in the crossover episodes with Flash) No eye lazorz.(Caveat....the bad guy in the current season seems to have some magical type powers...telekinesis....so maybe the eye lazorz are coming) Its not GOT, but it holds my interest. Caity Lotz, Emily Bett Rikards, and Kate Law are worth watching the show by them selves. My main gripe with this show is the casting of Laurel. There is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. Flash i have only watched intermittantly. Its less dark , less gritty. More kind of....cute? I dont know i havent watched it enough probably to offer an opinion. I like it, but maybe not enough to go out of my way to watch it. Supergirl i have watched absolutely none of. If it starts getting good reviews, i'll go back and watch it.

tanatastic 2,062 Posted January 4, 2016 I'm 6 episodes into making a murderer. It's just like watching episodes of forensic files or other crime, lawyers, evidence documentary shows. It's good, if you like those shows.
southcarolina 166 Posted January 4, 2016 I just finished off Haven. Ive had the last 6 or 7 episodes waiting in my DVR for a few months. Finally got around to watching them.Mostly i just wanted to see how it ended. When the show started it was during a time when Syfy was producing quirky sci-fi shows like Warehouse 13 (which i also watched from beginning to end). It was based off a Stephen King novella (The Colorado Kid), although it went well beyond the scope of the King story a long time ago. The show got fairly repetitive and convoluted in its last couple of seasons. The writers really didnt seem to have a plan, they just made stuff up as they went along, adding things without finishing other things they had already started. But it was a fun show that wasnt afraid to poke fun at itself. In the beginning it did a fairly good job of being kind of mysterious and actually had a pretty good cliffhanger at the end of season 1, but by the end it was just a bad guy of the week type thing and all of the mysteries were either forgotten about, or explained rather badly. I would probably tell most people not to bother watching it, unless they had a fetish for Maine.

hdaddy 18 Posted January 4, 2016 I'm 6 episodes into making a murderer. It's just like watching episodes of forensic files or other crime, lawyers, evidence documentary shows. It's good, if you like those shows. After reading through the NYE thread, I decided to check out the CNN show with the D lister and Anderson Cooper. They got into a conversation about what Anderson does for fun, I think. Anyways he mentioned how he was into watching Making a Murderer and because of that I started watching the following day. Currently through 8 episodes I think. Your description pretty much sums it up. I'm finding it interesting and will finish it this week.
