kilroy69 1,273 Posted September 10, 2020 I do not mind tipping. I really do not. When I have a service provided to me that requires tipping I usually do 25-30 percent. I have not went into a restaurant to eat since march but I have ordered out. When they bring it right to my car I tip them. The other day I ordered to go from outback and the site would not take my card. It allowed me to do a pay in store option so I put my mask on and went inside to grab the food and pay. I looked at the counter and picked out my own food based on my last name on the receipt. The guy takes my card and say would you like to include a tip? I said.....uhh no. He looks at me and lets out a HUGE long sigh and rolls his eyes. Then runs my card. Am I wrong here? What the fock was I supposed to tip him for? To come to work? To run my card? He literally did absolutely nothing that would not have already been done had the website working. Why should I tip him? Ya wanna tip? Get focking real job assshole. Working as a server is cool in your 20s........notsomuch in your 40s.

fandandy 3,314 Posted September 10, 2020 The scam is that businesses are allowed to pay these people less than minimum wage. I have no idea why that is legal.

edjr 7,034 Posted September 10, 2020 I look at it this way. I made 4/5 times what a person working at a counter makes. I order out maybe twice a week. Will I really miss that 5 to 10 bucks? I refuse to be a cheap fock.

A lot of these people make good money, much in cash and tax free, because customers don’t want to look cheap. I know a bartender who makes $150 and up on a busy night.

I know the uber eats people do not do much, however considering depreciation, maintenance and other vehicle cost of ownership expenses along with fuel costs and with how little they earn I believe they practically lose money and I feel bad. I have increased my tipping recently and they get almost as much as in house service.
Boots11234 108 Posted September 10, 2020 FOK dem KONTS!! This happened to me at olive garden last week. I ordered online and paid. NO tip. Woman brings me my food and has the ballz to ask me if I want to leave a tip for the people who bagged up my food?!?! Ummm, No, and fk off please. Rolled up my window and my 17 year old daughter commented 'wow dad that was pretty inappropriate of her.' I emailed corporate to and have yet to hear back. Funny thing is when I was young I actually opened this particular Olive Garden. I would never have been allowed to do what she did. Im not tipping to put my food in a bag sorry. Ring it up under the managers number so there is no tax liability for the server and problem solved.

Djgb13 2,339 Posted September 11, 2020 I still leave a tip. It might be $1-$2 based on how much the food is. I figure I won’t miss that $1-$2 and the people workin there need it more than I do cause I’m sure they are barely getting by with hardly anyone going to sit in and eat there

I used to have a little Mr. Pink in me, but I've softened as I've aged and all 3 of my kids have worked as servers. My youngest daughter still serves at Denny's, and she shares tips with the bussers and cook staff. So you aren't just tipping the person taking your money for a takeout order. I'll usually do 15% for takeout, 25% for sit-down.

Utilit99 4,099 Posted September 11, 2020 I tip people who.who.really work.for the money. Servers? Yep. It's not their fault that minimum wage for servers is low as shlt. I tip bartenders some depending on what they do that is of any effort. I tip movers lunch or beer money. I turn down services I don't want to tip. Like hotel services. Sometimes if I destroy a hotel room I'll leave 10 bucks and a note for the maid if in some cases she wasn't a participant in the making of the mess. For take out orders? Ours are usually like 60-70 bucks. I'll give a few bucks. Especially now with the chinese flu. I tip them way more now cause I want them to stay afloat if I like them. Super Cubs 156 Posted September 11, 2020 Tipping a % is the scam Two people go out to eat. Separate checks. One gets a $10 hamburger. The other a $50 steak. GobbleDog 1,018 Posted September 11, 2020 Great service, free drinks, really nice... I tip 15%. Spilled water on my shirt, food took forever, bad attitude... I tip 15%.
