At least he said, "if this is true" instead of jumping in and assuming it's true like he did when he tried to get that cop cancelled for saving someone's life.  Perhaps he's growing as a person.

The TOS are in the air right now and all the censors are out the door, good riddance. But I'll actually agree with LeBron on this one. Make your case but keep the derogatory personal insults off the platform. The explosion of the N-word, assuming LeBron and this Lewis guy are true, ought to be curtailed. Elon has some work to do to figure it all out.

He said it's "scary AF" only if it's something said against liberal black people. I've never seen the guy say anything about the rhetoric that comes from the left.

Abrams saying to "get in people's faces no matter where they are", Biden calling people white supremacists or racists when they aren't, Harris bailing criminals out of jail during the riots, and on and on. There is a never ending racist narrative coming from the left and from black people.

But none of that is scary AF to him it seems. To him, that isn't hate speech or hate actions. Screw James, he's not growing up.

From the guy you just showed the screenshot of, I’d bet the n-word is the “particular slur” he’s referring to.

Oh boy, if true this won't turn out well.

I don't know what having a blue check gets you or why anyone would want to pay $20/mo for it

The blue check mark is suppose to represent that you are who you say you are.  It means it's been verified and the public knows it's legit.  It can be a very big deal for people who make a living putting content on social media.  I'm not sure if it's good or bad yet but I'm leaning good.  It may weed out some worthless accounts.

My guess is that most of them are from the people who got fired from Twitter who are using the "Bot" accounts.  LOL

I don't use Twitter either.  My understanding is that the "blue check" is a little blue check mark that shows up when someone looks at your Twitter feed.  It's supposed to indicate that you're "verified" to be who you say you are.  Currently I guess you can request it and they give it to you for free.  A lot of journalists, etc, like having it.  Now they'll have to pay for the privilege.

It's free.  The people who have the most popular Twitter accounts get blue checkmarks once they have been verified to be who they say they are.  Musk is talking about charging those people $20/month in order to keep their blue check mark.

Gotchya.  Seems ok to me then.

Pretty simple. If you have a blue check mark and went to the bother to get one that’s a fairly good indicator that Twitter is important to you and you most likely will pay. Anyone who thinks this is dumb just doesn’t get it.

I can see a one-time fee to verify that I am who I say I am, but why would I have to pay that monthly?

It will be great if Musk can really not pay those fired psychos any severance. If they lied about the info they provided to the courts, I would bet he doesn't have to pay them.

Imagine going from $17 million a year to zero. Of course, if I made $17 million a year, I wouldn't even work past 5 years max.

It will cost Musk more money in legal fees to fight it, and will probably end up paying it anyway. But since he’s been rich from birth, I’m sure he’s more concerned about his vendetta than over losing a few million bucks.

It's the principle of the thing. Go after them hard even if it costs you money. I hope they don't see a penny from him.

May not cost him anything at all after what he uncovered and tweeted about today.

I’m calling it now. Elon will have to pay them. Convincing his fans on Twitter is a far cry from winning in court.

I thought the part about the team being fired if they didn’t meet the 1 week deadline was just as noteworthy.  Musk sure seems like a swell guy, but I guess that’s how he got so rich

How will charging 20 dollars for a blue check mark (I think I saw now Musk is looking at lowering the price) going to "defeat bots and trolls"?

Also, why is trying to charge money for a service that people are used to using for free going to help Twitter?

I don’t hate the idea.  They need to make it profitable, and

1) you don’t need to be verified to use twitter

2) the people that are verified probably have both the money and motivation to pay

It will be interesting if some celebrities or something refuse to pay if they’ll still let them have it

The bigger problem is trying to monetize something people use for free.

But I also question that charging money will stop trolls and bots. Do trolls and bots not have money, or sponsors with money?

Eh, monetizing things that used to be free is pretty much the American way, I don’t fault Elon for that.

This particular measure is not to stop trolls and bots since they’re likely not verified.

You have to at least have a valid credit card. Also you could still tweet. Just not have your blue check

Stephen King threatens to quit Twitter if Musk implements the 20-dollar monthly fee.

Ohhh, dear.

You know these people can't live without the soap box.  Steven would prolly pay a thousand.
