24 is a great choice and kinda think of it like The Walking Dead it started to fizzle out towards the last couple seasons. Great series still though!

Agreed.  I think they ran into the problem where they needed to keep the show moving so fast that they created crap filler so that they can make the show last for 24 episodes.  When you combine that with the amount of odd things that could go wrong, that they chose as their storyline, it did seem to fizzle out.

Drama -  Breaking Bad

Comedy - Boston Legal

Sci FI - If that includes fantasy I go with GOT, if not, the original Star Trk with a nod to Lost in space only because of Judy Robinson.

Horror - Either Night Stalker or Laverne & Shirely, tough choice.

Damn, you got Night Stalker while I was posting.  I forgot it was Kolchak.  I remember it was Darrin McGavin who played Ralphie's dad in A Christmas Story.

Finally. I don't know about all the others, but Twilight zone set the standard and I don't think anybody's ever exceeded that.

Hill Street Blues is widely regarded among critical circles as the first modern ensemble drama. Meaning, it wasn't Perry Mason or Jim Rockford or what the hell ever. Everything subsequent to that? Whether it's ER or st elsewhere or 100another shows after that? I don't know how you can argue that Hill Street didn't set the standard for that genre.

Comedy wise? I mean that's more subjective than just about anything else. But if I'm giving homage to the vanguard? I guess to be consistent, in this genre I would go with soap. I can't think of another show that made me laugh out loud on so many levels. And it broke so many boundaries. And it's spawned other shows.

Horror? I don't know.  It's not a TV show obviously, but the only thing that's ever really lived up to the bill was the movie poltergeist. Which stands alone even today.

Guess feeling nostalgic tonight huh?

Great lineup. A match except for Sci Fi. Watched the first couple seasons of The Walking Dead, then lost interest. Same for under the dome.

The Shield, or Sopranos .   Both were groundbreaking.  Shield was great from beginning to end.  BB deserves it

Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm

Battlestar Galactica (the remake from 2000 or whenever)

Horror - Night Stalker I was going to say none but HellToupee reminded me of that.  Scared the $hit out of me when I was a kid.

Reboot I assume.  Maybe my favorite series of all time.  Great story and character development.  After going on about it for years I finally got my wife to watch it and we finished about a month ago.

Without The Shield & Sopranos there would be no BB, they open the door for shows like BB. Without The Knight Stalker there would be no X-Files and that show was what inspired Chris Carter to do the X-Files.
